   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 16/20
Swaroga (1340) - Brussels, BELGIUM - SEP 14, 2014
Butelka 375ml. OCZY : piwo jest mętne o kolorze jasnej pomarańczy. Piana jest mała o śnieżno-białym kolorze. Mała ale trwała. NOS : na pierwszy niuch piwo ma mało intensywne aromaty tarty, białych winogron, cytryny, drewna, octu i zielonych, niedojrzałych jabłek. Norma. Trzeba lubić by kontynuować.

Trappist1 (492) - Diest, BELGIUM - AUG 27, 2014
Blond misty, small white head. Apple, bit rotten. Citrus, white wine. Taste is lacking some fruitiness. Missing some carbonation, got soft. Sour but no fruity aroma ’s. Overall ok Geuze, below average.

Blade86 (576) - Wrocław, POLAND - AUG 11, 2014
vinegar, wineish aroma, very acidic, some funky notes; amber, hazy, minimal white foam (just a ring really); very sour, lightly sweet; light body, light and crisp feel, quite lively but "fine" carbonation, quite long dry and sour finish; Overall: not very balanced, sourness in every way, but good though

Sweetened but still not too compromized geuze, earthy and lemony, sweetish touch, champagne-like accent; I guess this is the only De Troch product that is regularly produced and widely distributed which comes close to an authentic lambic beer, especially the 75 cl version, which I think is not as sweetened as the 37,5 cl version (at least that is what it seemed like). Quite okay but only as a stepping stone to the rest of the oude geuzes.

(Backlog) at spontaneous fermentation. Looks like a light lager. Lemon, citrus, tart aromas. Very lactic tart flavors.

Wet cork. Pours a large white frothy head with a clouded orange body. Nose of slightly tart fruit and vinegar. Wow, sour. High acidity... Not for someone with a weak stomach or ulcers. Tart, tart, tart. Slightly salty, lime juice. Very good. 375ml bottle. Purchased at Metro Liquors University Heights in Victoria.

JulienHuxley (3041) - Hilversum, NETHERLANDS - MAY 22, 2014
750 ml bottle. Very pretty deep gold pour with huge lacy white foam. Aroma is citrusy, white wine, woody, chardonnay. Taste is tart, nice mild funk, really winey, lots of grapes, light woody notes, citric acidity. They can make a gueuze like this, and their lambic is quite OK, yet they keep putting out their chapeau crap which is kind of sad. Palate is med-light bodied, well carbed. Nice stuff.

Bottle (750 ml). Shared by JulienHuxley, thanks! Bright golden/copper with a frothy off-white head and heavy lacing. Aroma is minty and there’s also the first funk notes I have in a Chapeau yet along wooden notes and light caramel. Taste is moderately to heavily sour with some funk, white wine, minty notes, light wood and hay. Body is a tad week. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. That’s not bad all. Of course, it’s not as complex as the best Gueuze out there but it’s closer to them than to the rest of the Chapeau series. It’s actually drinkable, tasty and quenching. Well done.

Absolutbeerginer (23) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - APR 24, 2014
