Bottle at home - thanks to Bager. Clear golden - no head. High sourness, gooseberries, "bone dry" high dryness, dry gumms, high acid, high carbonation. OK.

Pours a nice mostly clear woody coppery gold with a nice carbonation. Prickly nose, with sharp funk, and insane lemony citric sour notes- very spot on sharp horsey sour lambic smell. Good funk and tart flavor, has some lemon zest, herbal and grassy notes with tons of old wood- similar to a boon, - gets so sharp it becomes a bit butyric and hints of iso-valeric acids but it works nicely- awesome mouth puckering acidity in the end. I really liked this one, and wish they would just send this one over and keep all the rest we get here in the states.

Bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer. Very funky, old horseblanket aroma is muggy and very rustic. Huge sourness with very high carbonation. Funkiness is extreme and awesome. A bit hard to drink from the over-the-top carbonation, but this is still rather tasting. Better than its rating implies.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 schuimkroaat (410) - Leuven, BELGIUM - AUG 2, 2008
37.5 cl corked bottle, ’bbe’ Apr 2012. Brassy colour with just a slight turbidity and a thin lace for a head. In the nose, the brett sensation is mellowed by fruit jam notes (a hint of strawberry). Dryness and pungent lemony acidity are counterbalanced by a soft, honeyish touch on the palate and some wood. Tastes less sophisticated than some other examples of the style.

Pours a foggy gold with no head and light bubbles which quickly disappear. Smells like somebody has died - funky moldy & terrifying. Tastes remarkably similar. I have had sour ales before, I have had Gueuzes before, and nothing comes close to the horror that is Chapeau Cuvee. The aftertaste is redeeming in that most of the offensive (moldy) taste has worn off. Very sour & acidic. I think I can taste green apple if I control my gag reflex long enough. I’m sorry, this doesn’t taste off, this just tastes awful. Low carb, watery body. I have never before tasted a beer that makes me feel ill. I’m so sorry - drainpour. I’m sure lots of other folks like this, so they’re welcome to it. Please pardon my passionately negative review!

Bottle at Århus Ølfestival 2008. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma of citrus, apple and som tartness. The flavour is also citrus and apple with som tartness, but not as exiting as the aroma.

Bottle. Frothy white fair mostly deminishing head. Yellow colour. Very sour aroma and flavor. Long finish. Watery palate. Not the best geuze.

A generous gift from beastiefan2k, many thanks Eugene. Initially pours very clear and golden with a thick white head. Aroma is full of musty cork and rich cheesy funkiness. Fairly citric and tart aroma with lots of brett and horsey stink. The flavour is not quite up to par with the aroma however. Sort of papery and cardboardy with a very thin body. Light pineapple/citrus fruitiness. When I pour the sediment in, the impression of body is created. Richer and fuller tasting with more funkiness apparent on the tongue. Quite acidic and funky. Pretty solid really... just make sure you give this one a swirl before you pour it.
