3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 radiomgb (2143) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2007
Cloudy white-yellow in colour, lingering medium sized off-white coloured head, some lacing. The aroma is acidic and slightly sour, wheaty, lemon citrus. The flavour has lambic qualities - something new for Chapeau - sour, acidic, leather and cheese. Acidic mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet turning sour. A drinkable Chapeau lambic. Actually quite impressive, nice tartness throughout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 notalush (4173) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 1, 2009
Thanks to PilsnerPeter for sharing - hazy gold - no head - the aroma is very corky and cellared, with a lot of earthy must and mild blue cheese-like funk - the flavor is super briny and salty, which washes out a lot of the cellared quality from the aroma - very acidic, with a lot of complex funkiness developing throughout, especially as it warms up - this was actually quite nice - I can’t believe I like a chapeau beer!

A generous gift from beastiefan2k, many thanks Eugene. Initially pours very clear and golden with a thick white head. Aroma is full of musty cork and rich cheesy funkiness. Fairly citric and tart aroma with lots of brett and horsey stink. The flavour is not quite up to par with the aroma however. Sort of papery and cardboardy with a very thin body. Light pineapple/citrus fruitiness. When I pour the sediment in, the impression of body is created. Richer and fuller tasting with more funkiness apparent on the tongue. Quite acidic and funky. Pretty solid really... just make sure you give this one a swirl before you pour it.

Slightly hazy, brownish body; Very grainy, very little sour aroma, aromas as a to young lambic; Very 1-dimensional sour green apple like; Very warm wooden finish. Taste like it ain’t ready.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Leighton (6945) - London, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2012
Bottle at home in London on NYE. Pours clear, light gold with a fine, white foam. Musty leather on the nose, sour wheat, ripe lemons. Light sweet flavor with sturdy sourness, some dirt, mild acidity. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Crisp, tart lemon finish, sour wheat, a good deal of leathery mustiness. Light dryness. A pretty refreshing gueuze.

375ml bottle from Otsuki. Crystal, lemony aroma. Light dusty horse blanket, quite light, some leather. Rather pale golden color, slightly cloudy, with orange tints and a thin lacy head. Strong lemony sourness sends stimulation right up the sinuses! Rather well lactic, with leather and a some dusty old book. A bit of dryness but nothing like the big boys. Some creamy sweetness to go with the lemon, but not much...nicely sour. Good, real gueuze, but not great. Somewhat lacking in complexity, though would be great on a hot summer day.
