4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This gueuze makes me mad, because it shows that De Troch actually can make good beer. But instead of making it widely available they pour sugar, fruit syrup and other stuff in it to ruin in and make it drinkable for people who doesn’t like lambic. What a waste.
Slightly hazy light golden colored, fizzy white head. Really nice aroma of wild fermentation with a well balanced grapefruity sourness and a tone of barnyard. Actually very nice, had it been a little more powerfull, would it have gotten a higher score. Excellent and actually very tart flavor with penetrating lemon notes that gives a nice freshness plus a dry woodyness that makes the balance almost perfect. Biding and sharp, wow I’m really surprised by this!! It might not be the greatest gueuze I have had, but it is up there among the top ones. DE TROCH, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? (can’t wait to taste my rabbit in gueuze tonight that got the rest of the bottle :-)

Bottle, of course. Pours dark gold with white head. Nose is sinus-clearing sourness, horseblanket. Behind the tartness the flavour has leather and a certain wheatiness. Whereas other sours I’ve tried often have a surprisingly clean finish -- it’s what makes them so quenching -- this gueueueueueuze’s tartness really lasts and lasts. Good stuff, I know this company has gone into the alcopop business, glad to see they still make beer (under the same branding for god knows what reason).

Bottle. I really disliked this beer. Aroma wet horse, sour. Taste very sour and some dry bitterness (grape). Just not my style.

27/IX/13 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: n/a (2013-902)
Little cloudy orange beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of cork, cellar, moldy and old. Yet I only have this bottle for about a year or so. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sour, lemony, vinegar, little bitter, cork, bit moldy. Aftertaste: sourish and dry, tannins, bit woody, lemony, funky with some spices. It’s a correct geuze, but not the best. And the cork probably ruined the aroma.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home, BOE, 20/09/13.
Lightly hazed golden with a moderate white head that soon dissipates and reduces to a swirl.
Nose is lemon sherbet, light soap, dank wood, straw, touch of dry rot.
Taste comprises tarte lemon rind, lemon dipped straw, earthy, grass, barnyard, light acidic notes and a little throat scrape to end.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a little spritz, dry finish with dank notes.
Decent enough but lower down the pecking order for the style.

De Troch oude lambic. no idea of the age. But it’s old. Aroma of fresh soap softens. Then a smooth aggressive gueuze. It’s amazing. Insane aroma. Really this is one of best beer experiences of my life. Weird discordant bass sax led jazz and a beer that blows everything I have had this week out of the water. Perfect carbonation. Sourness. Just incredible. Yes some age. But crap. It’s just shockingly good. And intense. Almost unrateable it’s that good.

Kapsel nie dal sie sciagnac ale jakos dalem rade, korek naturalny. Zapach trawiasty i zbozowo octowy. Czuc jakby konska derke. Dla milosnikow tylko naturalnycj lambickow gueuze.
