2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 j12601 (4163) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium to large creamy white head. Smells like a pineapple lifesaver with a touch of funk. Slightly too sweet, and definitely artificial smelling, but given the reputation that the Chapeaus have, I’m pleasantly surprised. Wow. This is sweet. Tons of sugar. Tastes like pineapple candy. Finishes slowly and moves to some fresh prickly pineapple flavor. Way too sweet, but this isn’t all that horrible.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 ChainGangGuy (3682) - Canton, Georgia, USA - JAN 18, 2010
Appearance: Pours a clear, vaguely orange-hued bdoy with a few large, stray, unorganized bubbles, but nothing to call a head.
Smell: Oddly chemical-scented nose, as if one set fire to a bucket of various office supplies and long-expired pineapple husks.
Taste: Disturbing, eye-watering flavor of mold-infested pineapples and, as always, that signature De Troch trash can juice taste. A boatload of syrupy, cloying table sugar does what it can to quell and temper the loathsome flavors. As with the nose, there’s this conspicious chemical quality to it that coats the tongue. Sweet finish with some of that fetid character oozing through.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Woof. A ghastly, awful beer by any stretch of the imagination. If nothing else, at least this brewery is consistent.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 unclemattie (3242) - Georgia, USA - JAN 10, 2010
375ml, capped and corked. Golden color, syrupy pour. Pineapple extract for pineapple candy aroma. Very sugary aroma. A touch of peach pit. Flavor of pineapple juice with a touch of attic Finishes with attic character after the sugar dissipates. Not very lambic.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 wetherel (1837) - Encinitas, California, USA - JAN 7, 2010
Bottle at toncatcher’s 2. Woohoo. Another lambic rating. Others liked it. I think the aroma is bad, though kind of like a pineapple. Taste is sweet and delicious, just difficult to smell. Like a skunk.
0.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 cfrancis (1222) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 3, 2010
Keeping with the tradition of this brewery, this sucks. Aroma is acidic pineapple candy. Pours a clear straw yellow with no head. Tastes like a cross between bad Christmas candy and Halls menthol. The alcohol tastes like cough syrup. Terrible.
1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 1/20 shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Pours a clear golden yellow color with almost no head. Aroma is musty old saw dust, some brett, some pineapple candy, and mold. Don’t know why I keep swirling this to get a better smell. Flavor is sweet candy pineapple, musty wood, honey, and a touch of tartness.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Skinnyviking (5472) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 20, 2009
Bottle. Medium high fluffy but lasting white head leaving nice lacings. Hazy peach coloured body. Pineapple peach aroma. Sweet light acidic citrus pineapple flavor with high carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste. Quite refreshing.
