(375ml bottle) pours deep opaque ruby red with chunky yeast bits and a ring of pinkish head around the rim. Nose of raspberry licquer, syrup, currants, plum and other fruits. Very sweet. Taste is also sweet but pleasingly tartish, raspberries, and reminds me of those chocolates at Christmas with the raspberry flavor inside. Syrupy sweet finish. Nothing really WRONG with this aside from the sweet syrupy aspects. I would drink it again.

Bottle. By far the best of the fruit Chapeau’s that I have tried. This one I can actually put down a full 4oz sample. Not as worried about possibly developing diabetes from this, but it is still very sweet. Pours a deep red color with a small white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, raspberry liquor, somewhat fresh, L’Ami Provencal Raspberry candies, fruit punch. Taste is sweet, shockingly some real raspberry flavor (!!), fizzy.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BeerChaser0078 (846) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 19, 2010
Sample at tasting. Creamy red pour with a bubbly pinkish head that doesn’t last long. Nose is very sweet with lots of raspberries and virtually no acidity. Ditto the flavour, almost candy-like sweetness with the raspberries overriding all other flavours; very few lambic qualities. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation and a lingering sweet finish. Not too bad for a soft drink but not great for a beer.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jtclockwork (3434) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 9, 2010
Deep dark purple pour with little brown raspberry puree sentiment. Nose is raspberry sorbet. Very strong. Taste is very sweet raspberry, almost juice like. More sweet than sour as is the case for most De Troch Chapeaus.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tarjei (1941) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAY 5, 2010
25 cl bottle, shared with Roger and Bjørnar. Hazy reddish brown color, pink disappering head. Aroma has lots of raspberry. Flavor is raspberry, sweetness, hints of wood/oak. Refreshing, but a bit too much on the sweet side.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 harrisoni (9609) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2009
Bottle from Dranken Geers. Some pippy raspberry but also raspberry jam too on the aroma. Just way too sweet in the mouth, it almost hurts, but in a bad way. Sweetness just makes it too artificial and too jammy. No unpleasant flavours mind. Like all these fruit lambics, just overly sweet and artificial.
