2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 jaymobrown (1457) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 20, 2004
Ugh! Cherry flavored syrup candy. I didn’t enjoy this one at all. Too sweet and artificial.

Pours a deep dark ruby red, with a pale pink fluffy head. Nose is all sweet raspberry. Cloyingly sweet, all artificial raspberry blah. Drinkable, but way too sweet for my tastes. If you like Lindemans flavored lambics, then perhaps these Chapeau will float your boat. Sweet and sour, but not in any good way. I want real lambic you bastards.

Bottle @ Hamburg Beer Festival: Blood red, very little head. Syrupy sweet berries in the nose. Similar cloying flavour. Unbalanced and artificial.

This has to be the worst looking beer I’ve rated so far. Murky bruise purple brown with no head and black poppyseed deposit in sediment. Strong sweet raspberry with a hint of well used sock sour aroma. Thin fruit juice drink like palate. Yeasty sour start and light unripened raspberry flavour somewhat akin to light gueuze. Weak sour finish. I suspect this bottle may have been off? Needs a recheck.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 MrRomero (1964) - Nolanville, Texas, USA - APR 2, 2005
Poured reddish violet with a thin pinkish head. Aroma of overripe bananas and raspberries. Extremely sweet, with more banana than raspberry in the flavor. Just too sweet for me.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 CLevar (288) - Minnesota, USA - APR 30, 2011
From a 12 oz bottle. Slightly hazy dark purple/red pour, minimal head, little lacing. Aroma is oddly metallic fruit, some weird bacterial/rotting notes as well. Not much else. Taste is pretty much terrible. Again, the odd rotting fruit flavors really dominate the finish of this beer. Odd dry finish with a sweet start. Drainpour.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 BigBeer45 (971) - Michigan, USA - FEB 9, 2012
Sampled from a bottle,
this beer had a dark red pour (with some red rose color), the pour made a thin cover of large bubbles that moved to a partial cover and ring,
it appeared there was little carbonation in this beer, I could not find any bubbles flowing in the glass, the beer left a little lacing as I drank,
there were aromas of raspberry, raspberry sweetness and a little sourness on the nose, and a little wood and vegetable off-ness in this beer?
Not sure what it was, oxidation maybe? I know I did not like it.
flavors were raspberry and a little sweetness with a little off-ness at the finish of this drink from the same thing I mentioned in the smell of this beer, the finish was a little drying,
mouth feel was so-so,
I did not enjoy this beer, and I would not try again.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 14, 2004
Muddy, dark red color, small head. Very sweet raspberry aroma. Sweet, slightly sour raspberry flavor with some odd and stingy sidetaste - maybe hopping, maybe ashtray? Wineous, sweet palate. Interesting, yes - but I prefer beer that tastes like one.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bager (2121) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2006
Bottle. Reddish in colour with a small head. Rasberry flavour and very very sweet. A faint sourness but just way too sticky for me.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - MAY 22, 2004
Dark color, red hue. Artificial strawberry aroma, sweet. Sweet in the front, drier at the end.
