Bottle. Sour raspberry aroma with light mustiness. Cloudy ruby red color with moderate head. Sweet raspberry flavor predominates with light tartness and mustiness. Nice sweet sipping lambic but nontraditional.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bubbleflubber (1228) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Pours reddish-purple with a very small head and nice 1/8th-inch complete retention to the bottom of the glass. Raspberries to the nose (indicative of style), semi-natural with an earthen quality. Flavors lean toward a sour raspberry, with an odd hint of Green Apple Jolly Rancher to it.... not bad for the brew, just not purely indicative of style. Also, upon closer scrutiny, there is a hint of mayonnaise to the flavor/palate as well..... hmmmm. Not sure what byproduct that arrived from, and not totally unacceptable.... just processed. There is a soda quality finish and mouthfeel, lending more toward an artificial processed note to the beer. Overall, not terrible if a sour-sweet dessert brew appeals to you.

Aroma is sweet raspberry syrup. Cloudy maroon, thin pink head. Flavvor is raspberries, big surprise, but significantly more tart than the aroma. Cranberries seem to be in the mix also. Finishes juicy sweet. Delicious, but not much to it.

I can’t see through the ’Purple Haze’, little purplish head and some lace. Ripe raspberry nose, sweet, the front exceedingly sweet, the top thin, the finish is sour chased by the sweetness, light acidity, but the best I’ve tasted from this brewery, I can at least drink this one.

The first beer I had to use a corkscrew to open. Also don't like to see the green bottle. Aroma is strong with sour raspbery. Light pink color, similar to cranbery juice. Flavor begins sweet, then sour raspberry. Finish of yeast and surprisingly some tobacco.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 27, 2004
Color is a dark, hazy raspberryish red, with a small, if extant at all, head. Aroma speaks a different story: vast, sharp and tart, and all raspberry. Got to give it to De Troch, they can nail a flavor! It’s all there and it’s all reaspberry! Full-on flavor, too, very sweet, though many will discredit a sweet beer, or an un-sour lambic, for that matter. I think it’s fine, though not near the best.
Encompasses as interesting region of brew, for which we take a vacation from the consideration of other beers. Hops, malt, body, texture, etcetera, don’t play as important a part as they might elsewhere, and we suspend our judgement. It’s a light, dessert beer, and tastes of fruit, doing that job quite well. And it’s good for that, too!

(bottle - corked & capped 12 oz) Cloudy red pour with a very thin layer of white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of rich raspberry preserves. Tart raspberry flavor at the start with a sweet and fruity middle and a very tart and natural tasting finish. Aftertaste has some light hints of raspberry jam.
