COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

33cl bottle. Pours a creamy plum colour with a thin skim of suds on the top. The nose has cherry cough lozenges and then some raisins. The taste has more of the plum but completely lcking tartness. The palate is fresh and rich with a medium body and texture and a slightly cloying sweet finish. Overall, a nice beer but this is not a lambic.

Backlog from 27 June 2011. Bottle in Budapest, by 16/03/13. Cherry nose, nothing more. Cherry-red pour with a short pink head. Taste is surprisingly not too sweet, with light acidity and overmedium tartness. Medium-full body with a gentle fizz. Surprised at the restraint here, the last offering from Chapeau I had was a cloying mess.

Pours a deep red brown with a very thin pink head. Aroma of cherry. Flavor of artificial cherry. Ok.

Deep, dark, red with a small pale pinkish head. Aroma of cherries and must. The taste is sweet cherries and a slight tartness with a musty yeast flavor. Medium-full bodied and slightly syrupy. Not bad; there just isn’t much there.

Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a small head. Cherry aroma and medium sweet cherry flavor. Slightly tart but not enough to make it a good lambic.
