3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Machalel (24) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 19, 2013
Appearance: Murky and hazy ruby/rose with a minimal white head. No lacing down the glass.
Aroma: Glace cherries, strawberries, and a slight sweet flowery note. Not a huge amount else going on.
Taste: The cherry is really at the forefront of this, but in a glace / candied way, rather than fresh tasting. A little "cherry medicinal" on the aftertaste, but also some hints of strawberry and raspberry. A nice sour tartness to it, however it tastes a little too sweet. There is a little bit of the Lambic style rustic character, but only in the background.
Mouthfeel: Thin, light, spritzy, and refreshing. A good amount of carbonation, and quite clean.
Overall: Quite nice if you are ready for a tart, sweet, fruity Lambic. That being said, it was slightly too sweet (and I like sweet drinks!), and could do with a little more sourness & funk. It will never win awards, but not too bad for a ’cheapy’. The bottle that I tried was very close to its Best-Before, and judging from the other reviews, I think that it may have helped. It also didn’t come with a cork (normal bottle cap only), and had almost no wood aging flavours.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (6973) - London, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2013
Bottle at home in London. Pours murky purple-blood red with a small, frothy white head. The nose kicks off tons of sugary cherry candies, like the Luden’s cough drops of my youth - exactly. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of sugary, juicy cherry, very slight tangy cherry. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. More sugary cherry candies to finish; really, this is so close to Luden’s cough drops it’s scary. I used to love the Luden’s even when I didn’t have a sore throat. Is this a great fruit lambic? No. Is this a world-class fruity alco-pop? Without any doubt. Perhaps the best sugary fruit beer I’ve had ever, and if not then certainly in quite some time.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Martinus (1795) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 27, 2013
Clear ruby red colour, Slight white head. Aroma of cherry, quite sweet, cherry syrup, almond and cherry pips. Sweet flavour, cherry, light funk, syrup, marzipan and sugar. Finish cherry, syrup and marzipan.
Too sweet, but still some recognisable lambic characteristics.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 sulawang (408) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 12, 2013
pours a deep vibrant blood red with a nice small lasting head, foamy CO2, lots of active streams. Aromatic shweeeeeet cherries and their juice on the nose, so sweet it’s almost candy-like.
Attack: mostly creamy/light fizzy mouthfeel, bright 9/10-sweetness
Mid-palate: fading sugars, dense fruity richness of cherries, light woodiness, light-med tartness
Finish: light stickiness of the sugars, mainly clean, minor sugar-overdose fading alertness
Initial blows your mind with the clean cherry coming through with a minor oaked backdrop. After a 1/3rd through, the sugars becoming cloying and the palate is no longer excited by the fruitiness or sugars. Sugar overload 1/2way through. Reminds me of a soda.pours a deep vibrant blood red with a nice small lasting head, foamy CO2, lots of active streams. 3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BillHick420 (302) - North Dakota, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Pours matte red with a small redish head. Nose of cherry and sour apple. Aroma and taste of the same. No depth, very sweet, not balanced, and the aroma is quite synthetic. Still enjoyable, although not so much for lovers of beer. This is glorified pop/soda.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kapusil (244) - HUNGARY - DEC 8, 2012
0.33l bottle. Deep red body, minimal light red head. Aroma of sweetened sour cherry. Taste is like the aroma. Sour cherry, some apple and candy. Not bad.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 sebletitje (5420) - Enghien, BELGIUM - NOV 24, 2012
25cl bottle, BB 29/09/2013.

@ Kulrminator – 2001 Vintage if I am not mistaken – not entirely certain I got the item listed on the menu – it did have an old rusted De Troch cap – no BBF date printed on the bottle, place where it should be is empty – part of the old sweetened Kriek extravaganza – bright cherry-red colouring colour with a big old bubbles head, indicating serious age – old bottles of sweetened beers don’t taste that drastically different from fresh ones – all the stuff in there just acts like preservatives and artificial sweeteners don’t seem to change a lot with age – this crap is old and ancient – may get slightly worse but even at 25 yr old it is still more or less the same thing – haven’t gone further back than that yet – smell is pure grenadine, some band aid and old sweeteners – De Troch just has a machine these days to add flavouring to this lambic in order to get this stuff – much like the Floris beers are just the base beer with literally some grenadine poured in this – Chapeau taste just like that, pure grenadine, artificial sweetener, candy, lemonade, cherry juice – softer carb. okay bodied – this kind of stuff still goes against everything, I love about beer – at least this one is good lemonade as opposed to the others – more grenadine and coherent artificial taste and less pure artificial sweeteners popping up or maybe it is the aging, who knows? I doubt it
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kidmartinek (2453) - austin, Texas, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Pours like hibiscus tea and looks the same. Opaque raspberry color. Thin bubble foam ring for a head. Aroma of real cherry and not sugarified ones. Low carbonation. Flavors of apple peel, cherry, heavy mineral, old stone and wood. Aromas and tastes remind me of an old creek or a church, one.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 northropfrye (1352) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 4, 2012
Sugary sweet aroma. Not much head, red colour. Taste is sweet like candy, not fruit, rhubarb and apples perhaps. Rather tasty but not all that great.
