Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

Kulminator, under de troch kriek, but its clearly chapeau kriek, 2001. Notes say: Super cherry, sweetness is actually well hidden, hits the spot in a few ways?

Bottle @ Københavnske Øldage 2007 in Copenhagen. Cloudy red color with a fizzy fair lacing pink head. Aroma is cherry, sweet fruit. flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation soft.

A hazy purple kriek with a very thin rosey white head. Aroma of sweet cherry, musty, citric points. In mouth, this beer comes out a bit week compared to the St. Louis Premium Peche, since the lactic acidity which I long for in such a beer is lacking here. A good cherry base, again musty a lightly oxidized, a bit lacklustre mouthfeel, lighter bodied, short in mouth. Bieropholie import Nov. 2005. No BB date.

Appearance: cherry-red, low head. Aroma: cherry, reminiscence of citric wild fruits and plums. Flavor: sweet beginning - citric end of wild fruits, the flavor to cherries is dominant, nevertheless this has artificial features. Palate: slight body and watery texture. Beer with artificial aroma and flavor of cherries.

Bottle courtesy of dragonstout. Pours brownish with a pink small head. Smells of shirley temple cheap cherries and syrup with hints of dry lemonyness and wheat. Tastes like a shirley temple with some blah lemony sourness thrown in.
