COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2009 Strong cherry aroma, almonds. Very sweet and a bit sour cherry taste with a hint of vanilla. Too sweet for me, but still a decent beer. (7 4 7 4 13 = 3.5) 375 ml bottle. Not filtered. Corked bottle, bought 8/08 in Belgium. Red color, but totally cloudy. Cherry, marzipan and plums in the aroma. A solid sourness next to the sugary marzipan and cherry sweetness in the flavor. Sticky, but also a lemony cherry aftertaste, with mouthpuckering tartness lingering on. Loved this one.

Opaque brown colour w/ reddish hue. Full, sweet, sour cherry nose. Thick, syrupy, sticky feel. Taste: very strong, sweet cherry flavour at first, somewhat salty in the middle, dry sour/tart finish characteristic of the lambic. Too much like soda though.

I’ve been there, there beer ripe for over two years in wooden barrels. It’s amazingly fruity, because they use real cherries, preferably drink it as cool as possible as an aperatief at a dinner party i will do very well, aslo useable for making parfait, sabayons etc.

Dark ruby, purple-ish color. The nose and the flavor are dominated by an overwhelming cherry sweetness that is articifical, like kool-aid. Leaves a sugary sweetness on the lips at the end. Fizzy and refreshing, but un-sour and not like a good kriek from Belgium.

Taste is cherry artificial, colour cloudy purple. Very drinkable. Tastes like a very good refreshment on hot sommerdays.

Big sour cherry aroma. Cloudy red, pretty pink head, a few floaties. Sweet sour cherry taste. Tart, crisp, slight bitterness. Not overly sweet, refreshing. Fine Lambic.

Nice cherry aroma and flavour. Very sweet and sourish. Syrup-like. Good for desserts. Alcohol content 3.5%.

Cloudy, rhubard-like reddish color, foamy white head. Corked, spicy cherry nose. Cork in the initial taste, sweet cherry body, semi-tart finish. The cork aroma and tastes get in the way, of an otherwise, fairly complex brew, besides being a little too sweet.
