COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

Hazy red coloured with small pinkish head. Sour cherries in the nose. Sourish sweet cherries taste with notes of cane sugar. Not bad but pretty average.

Countbeer (1686) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 11, 2011
Bottle: Light pink foamy head that disappears quick. Clear deep red colored beer. Smell overripe cherries and tangerine, sweets, hints of yeast, dust and soap. Taste is a very sweet mix of cherry, light grassy, dust, overripe tangerine. Very sweet. Cherry sweet dusty aftertaste. Medium body, low carbo and a tingly mouthfeel.

12oz bottle. Deep ruby color with a small amount of head. Medicinal cherry aroma - taste is sweet and tart. A bit too much carbonation for me. I wish we could get more lambics in my area, as the ones available are mediocre at best.

Bottle. Rather ugly looking cork and there’s definitely some liquid that seeped through the cork. Pours a brown tinged crimson with a medium sized white head that falls off fast. Big sweet cherry, lots of cough drops, some mild chemical aromas reminiscent of pesticides. Super sweet, cherry, black pepper. Way too sweet and slightly peppery vegetal flavors. Cloyingly sweet. Finishes up with more sugar and some bits of cherry.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Morello cherry. Refreshing with a slight dusty undertone. Sharp sour finish. Good.

(375ml bottle thanks to Mora2000) clear red with a tinge of brown and a few soapy bubbles. Nose of fake cherry syrup, cardboard, sweetened pipe tobacco, and cough syrup. Taste of lightly sweetened red cherries, decent tartness, cedar, chewable vitamins, lacto. Well carbonated, decently tart linger, but there is an off flavor of sour milk hanging around at the end. One of the better Chapeau’s, but still not good.
