Commercial Description:
Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

Bottled. Dark pink colour, small white head. Smells sweet, apples, cherries, almond. A bit metallic finish. Taste apple and cherry. Good, but a bit too sweet for me.

Pinky red, small head. Sweet black cherry aroma, some almond. Fizzy palate. Sweet cherry and a bit of apple juice taste. OK, but not one to drink in any quantity, as it’s too sweet. Not really beer enough as a side effect of that.

Thx for another great tasting, Kim De Troch Kriekenlambik (Beljohansen). Clear red, beautiful colour, marzipan, bubblegum, sweet sweet sweet, not a good kriek :-(

12 oz. bottle at Flat Rock Saloon. Poured deep red, almost purplish with creamy pink head. Nose of strong, sweet cherries. Tastes almost like a cherry cough drop, but one of those good ones that taste like candy. Black cherry flavor evident as well. Much better than the reviews here would have you believe. I’m not sure what others expect, this beer delivers what it says on the label.

Bottle. Low pink creamy and lasting head. Clear very dark red head. Heavy and sweet cherries aroma with a little, if any, grape fruit notes. Artificial taste of goodness knows what. Cherries, no way !

Tell Welsch’s they can patent this beer. Pours a red color with a pink head retention that quickly dissipates and no lacing. The smell is strong, very strong, with sour cherries and a bitter tart aroma. The taste is unbelievable tart with a strong sour cherry and a vinegar zing to it. Limited tasting of oak were noticeable but you have to look for it. Really this is more of a wine spritzer then a beer. It was worth an experiment but overall I was not impressed with this beer.

Has some pleasurable fruity aroma! Beautiful creamy sibilation for carbonation. Swirling darker pinkish purple, unfiltered. Farmy barmy fruity flavor. Finish? What finish, confound it, it’s gone!
