COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Disclaimer: This is the sweetened version of Chapeau Kriek. In 2007 a new version was released, which can come with the same label as Chapeau Kriek, but which is a different beer. This new version is in the database as Chapeau Oude Kriek and it is not sweet. If you had a sweet beer, then you should rate this one. Otherwise, you should rate the Chapeau Oude Kriek.

Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

Bottle. Vile. Pours with a large white head over a murky red body. Aroma of mold and robitussin (moldy robitussin?), musty, cobwebs, dirt, soil, attic, badness. Taste is sweet, very sweet, light tartness, cherry, robitussin, cherry pie (with crust). Lively bubbles. Better...no, not really.

330ml bottle (BelgianShop)
Pinky red, small head. Sweet black cherry aroma, some almond. Fizzy palate. Sweet cherry and a bit of apple juice taste. OK, but not one to drink in any quantity, as it’s too sweet. Not really beer enough as a side effect of that.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Morello cherry. Refreshing with a slight dusty undertone. Sharp sour finish. Good.

Bottle courtesy of dragonstout. Pours brownish with a pink small head. Smells of shirley temple cheap cherries and syrup with hints of dry lemonyness and wheat. Tastes like a shirley temple with some blah lemony sourness thrown in.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy magenta with off-pink head. Looks good. Nose is Jolly Ranbery cherry, earthy. Tastes sweet, with notes of cherry and earthy hints. Not bad.

Well well I found this hiding in my fridge...it was old. really old and not good. tasted just like a sherry vinegar. I think it was too old to drink. But it had never left my fridge, so who knows. I wont kill it in the ratings becuase I assume it was skunked.

Consumed at Zythos, St Niklaas, Belgium, 08-03-09 This came courtesy of Ian and Mes who were on a Brouwerij De Troch tasting mission, cheers lads. Pours a wonderfull looking day old watered down blood with a great girlie pink head. Really quite sweet cherries, but its not unlikeable, its tangy and its actually ok. A6 A4 F6 P3 OV12 2.4

Bottle. Low pink creamy and lasting head. Clear very dark red head. Heavy and sweet cherries aroma with a little, if any, grape fruit notes. Artificial taste of goodness knows what. Cherries, no way !

Kulminator, under de troch kriek, but its clearly chapeau kriek, 2001. Notes say: Super cherry, sweetness is actually well hidden, hits the spot in a few ways?
