Appearance: Pours out a clear, light amber body with a fair amount of bubbles, but nothing to call a "head". Smell: Here we go again! Expired ketchup, odious weeds, lacquer. At best, there’s a vague fruit scent, but it’s been laced with a suspiciously high amount of pure sugar. "I’m too old for this..." --Roger Murtaugh Taste: Excruciatingly saccharin sweet explosion, and for good reason, as little else could try to obscure the poor flavors rampant within. Cloying would be a gross understatement. Artificial plum flavoring. Hunt’s Ketchup, castor oil, biodegradable plastic, old nickels, and a sneaky shot of wood varnish. I’m really left speechless. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Low level of carbonation. Drinkability: A real stomach churner! I’ve always considered the Chapeau line-up to be one unfathomable horror after another and the Mirabelle is no exception. You may be rightfully wondering - will I have another Cheapeau fruit lambic in the future? Most likely! It’s a bit like anticipating the latest horror film, I just can’t wait to see what wicked nightmares and unending torment they can dream up next. Cantillon, take me away!

PilsnerPeter (2958) - Flushing, New York, USA - MAY 19, 2009
Bottle: Hazy golden pour with a white fading film of head. Sugary aroma- some papery old character with cork notes and some citric plummy notes and mold. Slick feel with a sweet flavor. Plummy indeed with a sugary sweetness dominating. Some mild citric character- astringent on the throat. Light cork notes come through all the sweetness which saves it a bit.. Papery finish. Typical overly sweet Fruit-Lambic.

kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 25, 2009
12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a clear apple cider color with virtually no head. Aroma is strange -- notes of vinegar, yeast, wood, toxic floor cleaner. Flavor is much better than the nose -- generally syrupy and sweet with notes of wood, candy sugar, ripe fresh fruit, plum nectar, caramel and honey sweetness. Generally medium body with a pleasant sweet syrupy finish.

Floback (439) - Naples, Florida, USA - OCT 28, 2008
Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a golden body with random, spotty lacing and no head. The nose is sour with notes of yeast and subtle vinegar. Flavors include plum and apple. Very juice-like in mouthfeel from a lack of carbonation. The body is very thin as well. Not much to speak of here.
