2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle shared at Fear Tuesday Tasting (Downers Grove, IL). Pours a rich carmelized copper hue, pretty much transparent with faint bubbly head with gentle loose head. Nice striking darker glow. Aromas show some ginger ale, touches of dried cherry, gentle lactic element. A touch toasty, carmelized, earthy anf some more ginger ale, ash and earth, rubbery funk. Initial is medium bodied, a bit thicker with some caramel, honey, red cherry and touches of cough syrup. Gentle spiciness, subtle ginger, and earth. Firmer char elements, soil, eand oak. Middle is cheryskin, odd caramelized feel and odd earthy, Luden’s cough drop feel. Not medicinal but kinda a weird menthol feel overall. Backend is a bit sticky, lingering red fruit and cough drops, gentle tartness. A very odd beer as we finish, touches of sweetness, a bit sticky, a bit or really a fair amount undercarbed. Meh. Really odd nose.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a deep red/amber with extremely thin ring of white bubbles around top of glass. Aroma heavily of apple cider vinegar, oak, cloves and sweep pickle spices. Cloyingly sweet - like artificial sweetener hiding dissolved cherry throat lozenges. Dry finish. KInd of like a kombucha that has been drowned in fake sweetener. Unpleasant. Drain pour.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear caramel colour, small beige head. Light sour aroma, redcurrants, berries, citrus, yoghurt, the typical De Troch slightly off yoghurt smell, pasteurised yoghurt drink. Light sour, quite sweet flavour, hint of lactic acid, yoghurt drink, peach. Decent carbo. Sweet finish, lingering cheap yoghurt drink. Not bad for a Chapeau though, quite drinkable, even in summer.

Flaske fra Belgisk Bryg, delt med Kitty: denne falt i smak hos henne så dette lover godt for sommerens tur til Belgia! Syrligfrisk aroma i vinøs retning. Smaken er passe syrlig og ikke for søt. En lettdrikkelig helårsgueuze!
