What a terrible idea of De Troch to produce a Christmas gueuze. The aroma is very earthy and of rotten compost. The flavour is extremely sweet and sticky. It makes me ill just thinking about it.

Sampled from bottle at Danish Beer Festival 2004 (#24). Vintage 2000.
Clear wood-colored beer with no head. Nose is sweet woody with tones of wild fermentation and spices. Nice and fresh. Flavor is very sweet with undertones of lambic. Dry. OK, but too sweet. Still better than most other Chapeau lambics, maybe because of the vintage??

Very light clear orange color, no head. Smells more like a Faro, which means very sugar sweet. Aroma had also some artificial strawberry, very chemical. Taste is ultra-sweet. I don't think de Troch is able to make a decent brew.

Aroma is far from great. Corky, and artificial sweet. Hazy, orange coloured with no head. Taste is fruity (cherrie), corky and completely off-balanced by this very typical uterly disgusting De-Troch-artificialness! They almost deserve a medal for this achievement.

Pale brown-amber; rim of foam. Imagine a X-mas stall, sprayed white with a chemical foam and surrounded with pine branches. Then somebody dropped a load of wild mushrooms next to it, and clearly forgot about them. That's for the nose. The taste. Sweet. Sweeter. Sweetst. Syrup, of the cough variety. Maple as well. GODS! Medium bodied. AARGH. GUEUZE??

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2004 Bottled, 2001 vintage. Brownish amber. Fruity aroma with marshmallows, banana and old horse blanket. Sweet, dusty and rounded, rounded and sugary with low carbonation. Sweet like faro, lightly vinous with a touch of very old strawberry jam.

Light amber coloured with a very small head. The aroma is old strawberry. Awfully sweet with an oldish strawberry taste. Way to sweet for me.

Bought at Burg Brewery Ermelo. It seems to be a few years old. Dusty, earthy, slightly smokey strawberryaroma with cinnamon. Very sweet, syrupt flavor with sugar, strawberry or raspberry. I’m not quite sure, maybe both. A bit artificial.
