Bottle from a shop in Port en Bessin, Normandy. Pours sort of orange amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is sort of citrus with a hint of sour. Med body. Flavor is somewhat earthy, there’s a citrus sort of burn, and hop is perhaps earthy. I’d say it fits in bier de garde category without too much of a stretch. It’s certainly not what I’d expect from "Ambree". Like some other of the Northmaen beers the label doesn’t necessarily coincide with the style. Pleasantly surprised this time.

Countbeer (2920) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2012
Bottle: Medium sized, vast, thick and fairly slow disappearing creamy head and leaves a closed medium sized creamy lacing on top of a cloudy beautiful orange colored beer. Wow smell loads of caramel and milk chocolate, also caramel paste, hint of toffee, hint of roasted nuts, some barley malts, hint of chocolate chalk, slight(est) hints of floral tones like hops and herbs. Taste barley malts, barleys, chalk, caramel, some bitters, nuts, wood, hint of hops, some sweets like caramel, toffee and brown sugars (but the sweetness is equal divided as the bitterness). Aftertaste malty, floral, caramel, grass, light chalky. Nice but short. Low carbo, soft light creamy mouthfeel, thin but medium bodied and a creamy texture. Malty and caramel with some chalky barleys, a bit thin but a decent beer overall.

Bottled. An amber beer with a huge tan head. The aroma has notes of spices, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of peaches, malt, dusty hops, and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of humlelala. Pours a clear amber with a very lively, frothy off-white head. The nose is dominated by some fresh, flowery hops. Medium body, has a dry fruitiness yet with a sweet caramellish edge. No real bitterness. Fresh and pleasant. 301012

Bottle 33cl, a clear amber beer with medium head. Again a yeasty and a bit acid beer from this brewery, body is not robust, hints of caramel, lemony and metallic notes, pfffffff

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2011 330 ml bottle, a birthday gift from my son Steinar, who brought it back from Normandie. ABV is 5%. Top fermented, unpasteurised. Very cloudy brownish yellow colour, moderate white head. Distinct and pleasant gueuze-like aroma of farmhouse and lemons, also spicy notes. The flavour has a moderate lemony acidity, and distinct hops throughout, rather sharp in the finish. Spicy notes again. "Dusty" finish. Nice enough to drink.
