3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Certainly does have some charcoal, nutty and hummous style malts but also fresh hops. Not very full in body, but it drinks well. Enough malty balancing sweetness in the taste. It’s like and a bit too bubbly but somehow I do really enjoy this beer. Not a german smoke, but a French one and this makes it unique. (And luckily none of that whiskey flavour shit like Fisher!) (50cl bottle from La Cave à Bulles)

Keg at La Fine Mousse, 17th October 13. Good smoked beer, some spice and the peat comes through. Quite nice

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Small, but stable cream head over hazy reddish brown beer. Smoked, if faintly, roasted chestnuts. Faintly sourish, faintly phenolic, smoked malts. Has some sweetness in the background, as the aftertaste of an ash-roasted chestnut. A tad watery finish, certainly for a 7.5% ABV beer! Quite slick, medium bodied at best, faintly spritzy. Taste is OK, but body and palate need seriously beefing up. Thanks to Stefaan!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 50cl, an amber brown beer with low head. Nose is malty and caramel like with low smoked notes. Aroma is robust on the malty side, grain, caramel, toffee, some red fruit touch, light smoked notes but quite sweet. Not bad but a bit too fruity and sweet to let the smoked part go on its own.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from la Cave à Bulles, Paris. Pours a dark caramel colour, and a large white head which goes fast away unfortunately. The aroma is very dominated by the smoked malts and the black cardamon, I don’t pick up much else. Maybe hints of leather and prunes/raisins. The taste is very dominated by smoked malts, but it is possible to pick up the use of cardamon in there as well with a slightly bitter aftertaste, maybe a few other spices as well. I can’t taste the sweetness of the sugar which has been added according to the label, but I guess it might be a try to balance the beer a little. It comes out a little off balance, but it’s still enjoyable - very smokey. The palate is lively with a good carbonation even though the head disappears quickly. The body is quite light and refreshing. Wouldn’t mind trying it again to be honest.

50cl. Amber red and quite clear. Medium head. Nose : toffee, caramel, smoked, tart. Sip : oily texture, low carbonation, medium thick body. Cloying sweet, toffee and smokey flavor. Delicious but to saturated with sweetness. Light bitterness from burned malts. Spices. The beer is tasty.
