Bottle from a Delhaize in Gent. Mahogany coloured with a decent off-white head. Aroma of candy sugar, red fruit and spice. The flavour was synthetically sweet with more spice and a vaguely dry finish. Not a good example of the style.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 Pours a clear brown with an off white head. Sweet with some rye flavors. Also hints of funghi. Full bodied. Slightly bready. Low carbonation. Slightly dry finish.

Dark brown of color with a weak beige head. An aroma of sweets, spice and hints of bitterness. A flavor of sweets, nuts and a bitter finish.

Get it from supermarket near Lede. Quite a normal scent of Belgium Ales like Amber and Sweets. Fine Finish. A very good beer.

[Bottle from Rob in Hesselager.] Nutty amber look with a nice yeasty and fruity aroma. Flavor is like a red or rouge in the flamish/french way. Fullbodied, malty, honey, alcohol, berries and warmy. Recommendly!

A slightly hazy mahogany body with a small & persistent head. Fruity & yeasty on the nose - plums, cherry, candy sugar, raisins, alcohol. Sweet and yeasty taste, somewhat crude, with strong cherry & caramel. Alcohol and yeastiness on the finish. Medium/thick mouthfeel. Not bad, but crude and a bit boring..

Wow, indeed a big boy. Aromas of caramel and dark fruit. Sweet, candyish, spicy taste moving into a boozy and bittering ending. Good and heavy.

very soft aroma of fruit and a translucent red with a thin head.. expected more there... very bitter taste with alcohol coming forward surprisingly strong for a belgian ale.. i wasnt really impressed overall..

The commercial deScription says a "soft, light brown ale." Are you joking? This is a big boy, a bedtime beer. Pours a deep, dark reddish-brown with an off-white head that starts big but quickly fades to a thin film. Somewhat vinous but sweet aroma of dark fruits and alcohol. Flavor is sweet and raisiny, spicy, with some booze in there and a dark-malty aftertaste. Reminds me that alcohol can be a legitimate flavor, even if the beer is a touch out of balance. A tasty one that has more complexity than many other strong, sweet Belgians.

Nice mahogany-red color and a creamy head. The aroma has notes of dried, dark fruit, coriander and a light sweetness. The flavour is sweetish with notes of raisin, grapefruit, coriander and a light bitter finish with even more grapefruit. 2251
