Lovely amber colour, with ahuge off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is very nicely roasted malty and sweet with brown sugar, caramel, plums and perhaps some other fruits. Nice smooth mouthfeel, nice and drinkable. Good ale.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2006 (Bottled, "Keizer Karel Robijn Rood", 8.5% ABV) Clear, deep dark ruby red color with a small but lasting, tanned head. Sweetish, toffee-caramely aroma of raisins, dark fruit and berries. Caramely, very slightly roasted, malty flavor with syrup, dark fruit, and some hops in the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium to full-bodied, sweetish-syrupy palate with not much carbonation. A quite pleasant and drinkable, although quite sweet and syrupy brew. (Bottled, white label, was 7-4-7-4-15=3.7) Reddish nutty brown color with a medium, tight head. Slightly caramely-sweet, but also hoppy and oaky, dark toffee aroma. Quite sweet and malty, fruity flavor with a bitter finish. Hides the ABV well. Medium to full-bodied, slightly carbonated palate. A very "basic", semi-sweet, quite pleasant and drinkable Belgian strong ale. As easy to forget as it is to drink, though.

Bottle at Plan B. Amber color and mild sweet caramel malty aroma and extrem sweet caramel taste, the alcohol is hidden nicely away in a full body. not bad but just to sweet for my taste.

Dark brown, small head that dissapears. Aroma is mainly malty, biscuit and caramel-type malt scents. Flavour is also predominantly malty, but in a way that suprised me for a Belgian ale, much more straight up with the caramel: lacks the entanglement of yeast found in good Belgians. Transition into a bitter finish. Medium body, smooth palate. Overall, good, but not that memorable. Bottle.

Bottled: Amber coloured. Clear. Big light brown head. Has a very fruity aroma. Notes of berries, sweetness, malts and a touch of alcahol. Flavour has light cocoa notes. Malts, alcahol, plums and other fruits are present. Is sweet and fruity in the end, but dies quickly on the palate.

Vintage bottle.
Pours a small tan head on a brown/red body. Sweet malty aroma with tones of prunes and lots of alcohol. Flavor is sweet and heavy - malty, fruity, hoppy and spicy, a typical Belgian ale. Strong alcohol note. A nice and interesting beer but the alcohol is too evident for it to be great!

muy buena cerveza de alta graduacion (9%) aunque no muy fuerte de sabor con cierto aroma afrutado y bastante espuma, pero bueno no muy carbonatada, lo cual es de agradecer.
