3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (26250) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUL 25, 2006
An amber beer with a light brown head. The aroma has strong notes of cowberres, and some spicy roots which I can’t put names to, though some of it is licorice root. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of cowberries, spicy roots, as well as light notes of honey. The alcohol warms the tongue. I have no idea where this came from, but Sofie (Frk_Aabenhuus) was so nice as to share it with me. Earlier Rating: 4/9/2003 Total Score: 3.6 A dark amber beer with a small head. The aroma is very lightly sweet and fruity. The flavor is of a good maltblend, with roasted, sweet, and fruity notes - a very complex flavor.

33 cL bottle, comes as Charles Quint / Keizer Karel. Pours golden and clear amber with a lacing off-white head. Light yeasty and malty aroma. Flavour is almost wineous malty with a nice overripe fruit note. Ends with a mild fruity flavoured malt base.

(Bottle 33 cl) My version was only 7% ABV. Dark brown with a reddish hue, decent head. Very malty and full-bodied, with some roasted, sweetish notes - although the sugar never gets cloying. Reminds me of an Abbey Dubbel. 280597

Bottled (as Charles Quint Keizer Karel). Dark brown colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma of dark fruits, malts and spices. Flavour is much more boring, though it contains the same things. Mouthdrying. Some alcohol also noteable, especially after the beer warms up a bit.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MiP (12136) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - FEB 2, 2008
Bottle, 8.5%. Aroma of dark malts, a hint of soy. Clear dark brown colour. Nice and big, stable, lacy tan head. The flavour is malty and yeasty with a vegetable note that reminds me of Leffe. The alcohol is noticeable in the flavour, OK level, and slightly warming. The beer is a bit rough and unpolished, but OK.
