3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.75 bottle. The color is ruby red just like commercially described, the head is small and tanned. Sweet aroma, kind of malty-ish with dark fruits. Taste is also sweet and also contains dark fruits and malts, apart from that some spices are present. Medium body, thick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish can be described as more conventional when it comes to Belgian beers - it has more spicy notes, more complexity, and more sourness. Overall the beer is quite good, but considering the style it could have been better.

Red-amber coloured, clear with a small dark white head. Noses of dried dark fruits, raisins and herbs. A bit lively at first showing a medium body with a somewhat slick texture. Fruity and malty/bready sweet with a light floral herb note. The finish is medium lasting building a light bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Iets bittere nasmaak.
Indeed a nice, ruby-red beer with a light brown layer of foam. It has a nice, sweet aroma with the touch of alcohol. This goes on into the taste, and this also has the touch of licorice. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 75cl. Pours deep amber, copper and ruby red. Lively with a big, foamy light beige-white head. Sweet aroma, complex and rich, light and wooden floral, berries as well. Sugar-ish. Light candy sweet flavour at first, which turns out to be quickly bittersweet at the middle notes. Caramelized malt, hazy nuts and alcoholic booze. Light balanced long bitter finish. Thick, lingering mouth-feel. Medium-full bodied. Maybe a bit too sweet

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Delirium Cafe, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out caramely bready malt and dark dried fruits. Flavour is quite similar, with notes of dark dried fruits, caramel and bready malt. Full-bodied and medium sweet, but without any cloying quality. Very well-balanced and highly drinkable for the style. Very good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Also listed as Keizer Karel Rood. Aroma of hay and fruits. It appears dark amber with a frothy off-white head. The taste is only medium sweet and lightly bitter but stays sweet in the finish. Enjoyable in the mouth with average carbonation. Not so special, but a decent ale.
