Bottle 330ml. 8.5% ABV. Exceptional beer, great with cheese. Aromas of caramel, cherries, butter, and oak. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Dark amber, with a frothy head.

The opaque mugs provided with this selection prevented a perfect examination of the appearance, but this one poured with a nice dark brown color and a thick head. The aroma was spicey and the flavor was very spicey: some cinnamon and nutmeg alongside the dark fruits. Mouthfeel was moderate to heavy and very nice.

23rd February 2008. Smooth brown beer. Very creamy with a distinct chocolate milkshake feel. Smooth, sumptuous, soft, superb!

Pours out a nice deep red with a small off white head. Smells of cherries, roses and sugar. Tastes very unusual. Some nice bitter sour notes. Some grapey elements are present, but otherwise, this one’s very hard to place. Definitely unique,

Pours an absolutely nice deep red colour, with an enormous brwonish head that seems to last forever. Vigorous lace. Aroma of cherries and, surprisingly, bananas. Spices, almonds. Somebody said roses? Body is a bit lighter than expected, but good. Taste of cherries, oranges, cinnamon and vanilla... very nice. A sweet and a bit medicinal aftertaste.

Not as good as I expected. It is good, and dark. But it was not so alcoholic in taste as I expected. It was nice after all.

Excellent beer. Nice ruby colour and a very malty taste. I loved the glass it was served in.

Lovely amber colour, with ahuge off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is very nicely roasted malty and sweet with brown sugar, caramel, plums and perhaps some other fruits. Nice smooth mouthfeel, nice and drinkable. Good ale.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium orange-brown, light density of small particles. Aroma is moderately yeasty (cobwebs, earth), moderately malty (toasted dark bread, nutty, cookie, roasted grain, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of banana, clove, cask wood, licorice, vanilla, orange, smoke, toffee, alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. The aroma is absolutely incredible (reminds me very much of a [very complex] weizenbock, but with old/cobwebby Belgian yeast), but the sweetness is too big and tends to stick around too long...fatiguing. Well-hidden alcohol.
