Bottle 330ml from the local taphouse. Very tasty and balanced, with yeast and malt dominating. Aromas of butter, grain, with hints of caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitter and sour notes, a dry finish, and long length. Palate is velvety, almost creamy, and medium bodied. Yellow, with a persistent frothy head.

Bottle. Clear gold with a large white head. Aroma of oranges, dough, vanilla, coriander, white pepper. Sweet and boozy with lots of oranges and light caramel, gentle spices, moderately bitter finish. Lacks the completeness of character of the Duvel it apes, but still a good beer.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of citrus, apricots, marzipan, marmalade candy and a touch of honey. Fruity, malty taste with honey, citrus, apricots and a fairly sweet finish with a spicy bitterness. More than medium body. Not really spectacular, but solid and quite tasty. Nice one.

Golden blonde, white and stable head, drawing the glass. Aromas of malt, toffy, honey and fruit. The taste is sweetened, rather round, crispy then becomes bitter-sweet. Still dominated by the sweetness, hints of spices, toffy, then veil of hop until finale.

Would guess this goes good with most people: it is quite sweet, has a aroma of sweet citrus fruits and a bit of mango, which comes back in the flavour. Head is not spectacular, colour is again that of ripe orange fruits. Enjoyable.

Another one of those beers I kindly forgot... One of the thousand Belgian (strong) ales out there... This beer came bottled and poured an almost clear yellow golden colored beer with a small off white head that disappeared pretty quick. The smell was a light mix of yeast, fruits, some sweets, light malty and some herbs. Taste is again bit yeasty and fruity with hints of sweets, grains, herbs/spices, malts and medium bitterness. Malty sweet light yeasty bitter aftertaste. Medium carbo, light sharp mouthfeel, medium body and a light watery/creamy texture. Couldn’t get me excited, but ok when visiting a Belgian bar with a terrace in the summer...
