Our interpretation of a West Coast-style India Pale Ale. Aromas of resiny pine, grapefruit, and mango. Flavors of more hop-derived pine and citrus, backed up by just a touch of crackery malt character, before a dry, clean finish that allows the Pacific Northwest hops to shine through.

Hazy gold with a small white head. Good citrus aroma. Crisp hop taste, grapefruit, with a good bitter finish. Seems to muddle out at the end.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2015 On tap at Black Sheep Charleston. Slightly hazy golden with medium bright white head. Aroma is spicy herbal hops and some pine, medium body, medium/well carbonated, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is some grapefruit, nice spicy herbal hops, some pine hops, and slightly bitter finish.

Draft at the CBC/Black Sheep brewpub. Same visuals as the Citra, light and golden. Despite the higher ABV, this is actually what I’d call "easier to drink" than the acid-forward Citra was. But while it’s well made and well balanced, "easier to drink" means "probably more attractive to the masses" rather than "I liked it better." Because I liked the Citra better. But this is good. Pretty good. Not great. Slight yellow orange haze with pure white head. Aroma is california ipa. Pine and citrus. Taste does not meet the aroma, but is in no way bad. Little astringent finish.

on tap at the brewpub; a fantastic West Coast style IPA (one of the few East Coast beers claiming to be a West Coast IPA that actually lives up to it); light amber color; outstanding citrus aroma; fantastic, smooth, citrusy hop flavor with notes of grapefruit and mango; just enough malt to make it well balanced but still let the hops be the star

From notes: November 8, 2013. A: Citrus, mango, apricot, and grapefruit notes. A: Slightly hazy amber with two finger eggshell head and frothy lacing and good head retention. T: Follows the nose, a sweet, hoppy beer with lots of citrus, mango, tangerine, apricots and some pine, all over enough malts to balance it. Grapefruit rind on the finish. M: Just a bit thin, but great carbonation. O: Fruit hop bomb and NICE!
