2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 wcampbell (721) - Clemson, South Carolina, USA - APR 12, 2010
Not terrible, but definitely unimpressive. Wheat and some light yeast. Very light. Some sweetness from the wheat. No spices or anything else. Watery finish. No body. Light pale lager aroma.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BigMike (45) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 19, 2010
I was in SC last week visiting my brother and figured i try a beer brewed by Charleston Brewing Company while i was there.
I chose their Halfmoon Hefe Weizen.
The beer poured clear and golden with a small light head with minimal retention.
The beer smelled of fruit and banana. The taste was nothing exciting. Very light and very fruity. Not much of anything going on. I didn’t taste much of any hops or malt.
Overall a very unimpressive Hefe Weizen. I would not ever drink this again.
60/100

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cletus (6177) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 31, 2009

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 emacgee (3432) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - JUL 13, 2009
Pours a bright hazy peach with a one finger offwhite head. The nose is sweet, some orange rind, a bit one dimensional in what it has, some yeast character. The flavor is sweet, orange rind, crisp, less yeast in the flavor, mild wheat, not super traditional tasting. Not bad just not standout, east to drink on.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 brewski519 (644) - Morrisville, North Carolina, USA - APR 27, 2009
Pours a golden yellow - absolutely no head and no lacing what-so-ever. Aroma is slightly lemon - not much else. Taste is very weak lemon along with slight wheatiness. Not even close to one of the better Hefe Weizens I have had - usually a fan of this style - but this beer did not meet my expectations.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 lb4lb (2044) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2009
Bottle from Gyle41386. Thanks man! Pours a yellowish orange color with a short lived fizzy white head. Smell is bubble gum, banana and a soft clove aroma. Taste is watery, slightly sweet and strongly wheaty. Standard wheat flavor with a thin yeast flavor and it finishes slightly sweet. Really, not offensive, but a bit watered down, and "cheap" tasting, somehow. A bit fizzy and medium to thin bodied.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 Collint (475) - Sylva, North Carolina, USA - DEC 18, 2008
Bottle, pours a urine haze yellow with thin to no head. Aroma is sweet spice banana/rotten fruit. Flavor is typical wheat sweetness that is very watered down. almost no carbonation on the tounge. Small amount of sediment on the bottem. this one was just not that good.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 nearbeer (3048) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 16, 2008
12 oz. Mostly clear, golden with a large head that settles to a lasting ring and leaves some crunchy lace. Sourish yeast and honey aromas. Flavor of honey, wheat, bubblegum and dry grass, with some light lemon. Light body is dryish and slightly watery. Drinkable, but not really much of a hefe.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 NachlamSie (2345) - Tennessee, USA - SEP 7, 2008
Bottle. Commercial description states that this "is an unfiltered beer, naturally cloudy from wheat proteins." So, why is this so clear when I pour it into the snifter? What is the deal? Where is the yeast? This looks remarkably like apple juice. I take a sniff. oh boy. Not too great. I don’t get much of the qualities I associate with this style. It’s metallic, soapy, and tart with a dash of sour fruits and faint wheat. I was hesitant to take a sip of this one. But, after I cautiously supped a bit of this beverage I was relieved to find it was a notch better than the aroma had warned me. It seems cleaner with some discernable citrus and far off, extra weak cloves. The finish is tart. I was really hoping for more from this beer. The other two Charleston offerings are at lesat mediocre, this one is barely drinkable. I’m pouring my glass out into a plastic container and making marinade with it.
