A black hole body flashes very dark mahogany highlights at the edges, and supports a quickly fading frothy-smooth khaki head creating a solid ring with a pair of falling peninsulas of lace

This perfectly named ale offers mellow, well integrated aromas and flavors with an emphasis on cream and chocolate with mildly sweet fruit in the date and banana range, Belgian effervescence lightens with accents of subdued spice, smoke, wet wood, caramel, and white dough on a creamy, silky, smoothly carbonated medium body with a flash of stronger banana esters leading to a banana split residual with solid duration from a creamy smooth coating, an echo of vanilla rolls through the finish as this warms further creating the true box of chocolate effect with a nuance of cherry cordial

A very well executed stout-meets-quad dessert beer with well controlled sweetness and excellent texture

12oz bottle code MF6 04/17/15 served at 55ļ into 16 oz Sade Brandy snifter

Reddish brown appearance with a small, tan head. Belgian chocolate, light candy sugar, light caramel, chocolate aroma. A touch tangy, Belgian yeasty, dark milk chocolate, candy sugar, dark fruity, plum, raisin flavor. Sweet dessert beer thatís pretty nice.

Iím not sure if itís just my own palate or the beer itself, but this is too bourbon-buttery for me. Not enough real chocolate and thick body to hold it together as a legitimate chocolate ale. Too thin and bitterish and artificial tasting. As if they brewed a quad and then added in some chocolate flavor. Meh.

Pours out a very dark brown color with a thin light tan head. Smells like chocolate but fake, not all that convincing. Also has a boozy scent and some roasted malt. The chocolate in the taste is more real than it is in the aroma. Reminiscent of hot chocolate with a slight amount of booze heat at the end. The Belgian quad qualities do not really shine through all of that chocolate but it is dangerously easy to drink for 10.5. More like a chocolate brown ale. Unique, worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with Posey on brew day. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate and sweet malt. Flavor follows and has lots of malted milk chocolate and bitter chocolate. Very sweet. Decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle shared with the group in December 2012. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor had sweet caramel, toffee, some milk chocolate, dark fruits especially on the flavor, Belgian candi sugar. I thought this was sweet, but very good in my opinion.

650ml brown bottle - bottleshare at Ferrisí. Deep borwn pour, thin swirl of beige head on top. Chocolate and cocoa nose, chocolate cake. Taste has a lot of chocolate and a bit of cherry and a dash of sour milk. Dry finish. Seemed a bit thin. Overall I wasnít a big fan.

Bottle - Chocolate and a light sweetness. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Chocolate and light sour sweetness from the yeast. Very odd for quad but still kinda nice.
