2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, thanks to theAlum. Pours a deep brown, light comes through the edges. Nose is chocolate, faint caramel and soft malt. Nose is quite sweet. The yeast is pretty non-descript, as is the hopping. on tasting, holy cow is this sweet. Chocolate is strong as is a punch of lactose, pushing this into cloying. Hugely sweet and cloying. Not in my wheelhouse at all.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This nicely labeled 22oz bottle even looks like a fancy box of chocolates. Poured a dark brown color with a small, tan head. Aroma was heavy on the sweet milk chocolate variety, with some cocoa, and a touch of roasted malty notes. Flavor was quite enjoyable - I am particularly reminded of a canned chocolate soda that I used to drink as a kid and haven’t probably had in 20 years, but if this didn’t remind me of that one in the flavor and palate. Quite nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared by Chris. Thanks man!
The beer appears dark chestnut brown with a broken head of tan bubbles. The aroma offers a lot of chocolate scents, along with a rich, dark roasted malt. Definitely a huge chocolate presence. Not sure I would identify this as a quad, but hey, it’s good stuff. Heavy chocolate presence throughout. Overall, this is ok, but not something I would regularly crave. Now that I have had it, overcoming the anticipation of never having had it, I would choose any of the standard Belgian examples of the style over this. Bonus points for chocolate deliciousness, but counteracted by lack of depth and complexity.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample from beerfest. Pours a murky brown color with a smaller head. Aroma was lots of chocolate, some caramel and fruits. Flavor is syrup, chocolate and fades to fruit undertones. Not sure how this is a quad. Still an ok beer. Nothing to really stand out and make you want it again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Chocolate dominates the aroma and flavors. Also some caramel and syrup flavors in the beer. The beer has a syrupy, sweet flavor. Interesting beer, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to try again.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle pours an opaque, mahogany brown with some creamy, white head. Nose is straight chocolate, brewers licorice, some rye malt maybe, Hershey’s syrup. Flavor is 100% milk chocolate, light vanilla, Hershey syrup, dark chocolate, some crystal malt. Full bodied, chocolatey finish. Delivers exactly what it promises.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at the May 2012 iteration of the Santa Cruz tasting series. Well this is really chocolatey. Mainly tootsie rolls and chocolate syrup, but also a little like chocolate soda. Candied dark fruits make a minor appearance along with a bit of alcohol sharpness. Delicious in small servings.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by JCB. Pours reddish brown, dark and without a ton of carbonation. Nose is chocolate and nougat, or as JCB pointed out, Tootsie roll. Not very much like a quad. A bit sweet for me, but not bad.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, dark fruits, grapes, light banana, and a hint of alcohol. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a small beige head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of milk chocolate/chocolate syrup. It finishes with a pretty big sugary fruitiness and light-moderate candi sugar. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, the sugary sweetness is a bit too much for my liking.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from phaleslu (I think) - thanks! Pour is a touch flat, perhaps, with a handsome mahogany color done a slight disservice by relative lack of body and carbonation. Massive Tootsie Roll aroma that tends to crowd out most of the character I expect in a quad. This is borne out in the taste too, with only perfunctory yeast, fruits, and Belgian sugars. The Roll dominates, and perhaps more complexity would have come through with a different rendition of the choc (more bitter perhaps).
