651mL thanks to CaptainCougar. Pours deeper amber with medium tan head. Good lace. Sweet chocolate nose with salty black olive. Taste is tangy, big chocolate box, with gritty cocoa powder and black patent malt olive and smokey ash. Not a quadrupel whatsoever. Sweet Stout perhaps.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to a generous BA, shared with others. Poured a slightly hazy dark brown with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of chocolates with a particular note of sweet bakers chocolate coming through as well as some milk chocolate. Flavor was similarly full of chocolate that started with bakers chocolate but ended with sweet milk chocolate. Very thick on the tongue.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft served in a snifter at International Tap House in Soulard. Pours an opaque dark brown color with a small beige ring for a head. Very surprised this is a quad based on what it smelled and tasted like. Aroma is heavy on dark and baker’s chocolate notes, along with vanilla, dark fruits, woody and earthy notes, caramel, and booze. Almost smells like a bourbon barrel-aged beer. Flavor carries a little more of the quad characteristics, with more fruity, earthy notes and some yeast to go with the heavy dose of chocolate. Some warming alcohol late. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, boozy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. It seems like I keep finding these surprisingly great Charleville beers at iTap and I hope that trend continues.
