3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted 8/19/11. 22oz bomber. Unactivated pour leaves a ton of dark sediment in the bottle. Pours opaque brown with a webbed khaki head. Aromas of Cherry 7Up, Sugary lemon and lime candy flavor. Mild chocolate and fudge nuance. Full bodied and super sweet! The palate screams fudgy chocolate icing. Overwhelming sweetness from the malts and the other ingredients. Nice blend of the Belgian yeast and dark fruity esters, chocolate and fudgy flavors. The alcohol is muted and gets lost in the cola, syrupy sweetness. Yeah, the sweetness is a tad overt. Even at this age. A crazy banana ester pops up in the finish, and actually blends seamlessly with the melted chocolate ice cream flavor. Crazy.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
I’m not sure if it’s just my own palate or the beer itself, but this is too bourbon-buttery for me. Not enough real chocolate and thick body to hold it together as a legitimate chocolate ale. Too thin and bitterish and artificial tasting. As if they brewed a quad and then added in some chocolate flavor. Meh.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours out a very dark brown color with a thin light tan head. Smells like chocolate but fake, not all that convincing. Also has a boozy scent and some roasted malt. The chocolate in the taste is more real than it is in the aroma. Reminiscent of hot chocolate with a slight amount of booze heat at the end. The Belgian quad qualities do not really shine through all of that chocolate but it is dangerously easy to drink for 10.5. More like a chocolate brown ale. Unique, worth a try.

Bottle shared with Posey on brew day. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate and sweet malt. Flavor follows and has lots of malted milk chocolate and bitter chocolate. Very sweet. Decent beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle shared with the group in December 2012. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor had sweet caramel, toffee, some milk chocolate, dark fruits especially on the flavor, Belgian candi sugar. I thought this was sweet, but very good in my opinion.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
650ml brown bottle - bottleshare at Ferris’. Deep borwn pour, thin swirl of beige head on top. Chocolate and cocoa nose, chocolate cake. Taste has a lot of chocolate and a bit of cherry and a dash of sour milk. Dry finish. Seemed a bit thin. Overall I wasn’t a big fan.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Chocolate and a light sweetness. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Chocolate and light sour sweetness from the yeast. Very odd for quad but still kinda nice.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a dark, opaque brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is slightly sweet with a bit of a chocolatey note. Taste is ok, remember it being better on tap. Taste to me has very little chocolate and more dark fruit.
