4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 fear025 (213) - Illinois, USA - APR 7, 2011
Aroma:Tons of sweet, delicious chocolate aroma on this one. There’s some malt in there too, but I don’t smell any Belgian aromatics.
Appearance:Black and opaque. Nice amount of tan head that doesn’t stick around very long. Amazing lacing.
Taste:The flavor does taste like a Belgian quad on the foretaste. It has the spicy notes that I expect from a Belgian. There is chocolate in there, but it’s actually pretty mild. The midtaste has some great sweet malt and caramel notes. In the aftertaste, the chocolate really shines through.
Palate:Amazingly thick body on this one, very creamy. The low to medium carbonation fits well with the style. There’s some alcohol heat on the back end.
Overall:This is a fantastic spin on a Belgian Quad. The chocolate could easily overwhelm a beer like this, but the backbone of the beer still makes itself known.

Bottle at the May 2012 iteration of the Santa Cruz tasting series. Well this is really chocolatey. Mainly tootsie rolls and chocolate syrup, but also a little like chocolate soda. Candied dark fruits make a minor appearance along with a bit of alcohol sharpness. Delicious in small servings.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, off-white head. The bouquet is quite chocolaty with additional notes of cola and dried, dark fruits. Full-bodied and mildly creamy with sheepish carbonation. Like the nose, the flavor is plenty chocolaty and sweet with loads of dried dark fruits. Finishes, sweet and chocolaty with a kiss of vanilla. Big-time thanks to phaleslu for shipping this world class beer my way!

22oz bomber poured into a snifter. From Beernbourbon in a trade, thanks Vince! Pours black with no head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits and Belgian sugar. Taste is medium sweet. Mostly chocolate with sugar and dark fruit and a little dash of vanilla. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Soft carbonation and a long chocolaty finish. Overall, very good. I would gladly drink this again.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate, dark fruit and roasted malt. The chocolate is nearly overwhelming and really melds well with the dark fruit notes from the quadrupel. The flavor is more of the same. The chocolate tastes like malted milk balls, with some roasted malt and a little bit of raisins and figs mixed in. Thick mouthfeel and medium mouthfeel. Definitely a chocolate-heavy beer that somewhat surprisingly mixed well well with a traditional Belgian quad.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 brystmar (517) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Third time with this beer, and I didn't remember it being this good. Aroma is pure milk chocolate. Delicious chocolates of all types inside this bottle; the quad base turns out to be a perfect choice. Fruity, creamy, decadent. A terrific creation.
