3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ben4321 (2223) - Hoboken, USA - MAY 23, 2011
Location: 22 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 5/23/11
Aroma: That is a rather sweet nose, like orange candy with some floral and grass notes too
Appearance: A hazy orange-brown colored pour with a creamy beige head and lots of lace
Flavor: Also tastes heavy sweet with lots of orange and citrus, it turns just a touch bitter in the finish
Palate: The body is really smooth and creamy with just a little tingle on the tongue and a dry finish
Overall Impression:
Overall, this is a sweet one. If you are a sweet beer fan looking to get into IPAs, this one might be for you, as it does have a little dry/bitterness to the finish that makes it feel (only somewhat) IPA like. (Get ready for this as it is going to be an excellent description): It is kind of like a cross between a cream ale, and an IPA, only if you dropped about 50 orange candy’s into the glass. (I told you, brilliant, he said sarcastically.) I’d never even heard of this brewery before I came across this one in the store, but the beer was worth trying, and is hard to score. Post-rate (but still sipping) edit, it got just a touch better as it warmed, bumped the overall from 12 to 13.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 wnoble (694) - French Lick, Indiana, USA - MAY 19, 2012
This one poured a hazy orange mix of small yeast floaties below a slightly off white head that soon fades to a film. Nose is quite the fruity hops and some slight citrus, earthy, and slight herbal notes. Flavor is far more citrus and floral hops along with some caramel and biscuit and/or toasted malts. Slightly sweet finish but had a heavy bitterness punch to top it off. This wasn’t too bad. I never really like the toasted notes to IPAs and could have tolerated more intense citrus and flowery hops. Other than that i enjoyed it.

A lot of head at first, but went away pretty quickly. Tons of sediment. Oily hops aroma. Oily hops in the taste too, balancing out heavy malts. On the heavy side, but not overly bitter. Good IPA

I was really looking forward to this. I’ve had other Charleville beers that have been excellent. The initial aroma was wonderful, but was soon over powered by yeast. There was way too much yeast for an IPA, to the point that it settled at the bottom of my pint glass in a pile about the size of a quarter. Surely I got the bottom of the barrel?
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Zymurgeist2 (448) - Redwood City, California, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Floral, spice and alcohol aroma. Did not expect the alcohol to be present for a 6.5% beer. Pours a very deep orange with off-white head. Lots of malt, but nice floral flavor as well. Some bitterness and spritzy carbonation. Some cloying aspects from the malt.

22oz bomber from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a hazy orange with about 3 fingers of white head. Aroma of grapefruit and orange citrus. Taste is medium bitter and very light sweet. Taste of orange, grapefruit and light caramel. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, its really good. I’m actually very surprised how good it is considering it was only 4 bucks for the bomber. Would totally drink this again.

bottle.. really dark ipa, medium copper with a light orange hue, nice colored head of light cream tan, watery... weak nose with only a bit of pine, alcohol, generic malt base... tastes pretty rough, tons of alcohol for only a 6% beer, harsh chemical hops with the alcohol dominate, not very good

Clear amber with a creamy soapy off-white head that leaves lines of lacing. Aroma is herbal, vegetative and floral. A bit vegetative tasting with a full oily body. Slight malty with a foamy body.
