In short: A big IIPA with plenty of sticky caramel and sticky resinous hops. Tasty.
How: Tap at Vices & Versa
The look: Clear copper body topped by a very small off-white head
In long: Quiet nose of citrus and pine-cones and whole lot of caramel. Carbonation is relatively soft. Sweet but never sugary. Big sticky body filled with oily caramel and some honey. Bitterness of medium intensity. Hopping is very resinous and sticky too. Sticky coniferous sap is the best description I can come up for the hops here. More sticky than my cousin Louis Victoria Secrets magazine.

My Bottom Line:
This Barley-Winesque Double IPA is chock full of honeyed and caramelized cereals, a portly grain bill which is ably balanced out by bitter, citrusy and floral hops throughout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy golden amber.
-The aroma on this one will appeal to barley wine lovers a lot more than Double IPA aficionados. There aren’t enough aromatic hops to tell, in a blind tasting for example, that this is a Double IPA.
-Hop presence increases in the last half of each sip, adding wooden resins to the flavor profile.
-This is as good as most of the others Charlevoix Double IPAs. Personally, I would tone down the dextrins to let the hops express themselves more, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a well-brewed and very satisfying sipper of strong ale.

On tap at Vices et Versa.
