3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Fred82 (1992) - Québec City, Quebec, - AUG 16, 2009UPDATED: AUG 20, 2009 500ml bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a huge fluffy head. Most of it fades rapidly but a small ring stays until the end. Nose of malt and yeast. Citrusy and a bit spicy. Some hops but not much. Taste is malt with slight bitter/hop hint. Discrete hints of banana/bubble gum. Alcoholic finish as well as some spiciness and bitterness. Quite refreshing and very drinkable. It is a good Belgian blond but I’m no such a fan of Belgian blonds. Great for summer and good with food.

In short: A straightforward thirst Belgian blond ale. Good beer
How: Bottle 500ml, many times, fresh bottles (from memory) and many months old bottle
The look: Cloudy yellow-blond body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose has typical Belgian blond ale yeast fruity esters (bananas upfront with light notes of pineapples and pears) as well as herbal notes. Taste has good bready cereals and crackery malts, light sensation of residual sugars, same fruits as in the aroma, light yeast presence, mild herbal hops. Medium body that doesn’t feel very nourishing for a Belgian Ale. I’m sad to hear this beer has been discontinued and replace by the stronger Flacatoune which offers 2% more abv for the same price. Although far from complex the Vobiscum Blonde offered something that we rarely get, a thirst Belgian ale that is not a witbier. When I heard Vobiscum Blonde was being discontinued I fell down on my knees, raised my hands to the sky and screamed “noooooo!!!!”, and if one more persons calls me overly dramatic I swear I’ll burn this whole world to the ground.

500ml bottle pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a 2 finger white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aromas are light fruits and yeast with some mild hops. Taste is malty sweet with some spiciness and a mild hop bitterness in the finish. This is an outstanding blonde ale and is a wonderful tasting experience.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GregClow (2736) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2012
Bottle that’s been in my stash for a while - not sure of the source. Hazy yellow-gold with a big, creamy, overflowing head. Aroma has a sharp, tart yeastiness with wisps of spice (esp. clove) and cut grass. Active carbonation gives the body some zip. Flavour follows on the aroma, with the addition of some lemon zest and gingery notes. Nothing super-crazy-awesome, but a nice and flavourful blonde.

500mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours clear gold, with a thin, long-lasting, white head. Aroma is yeast, and Belgian spiciness - cloves and pepper. Taste is nice. Sweet and spicy upfront, with a dry finish. Nice.

Very yeasty character. Medium sweetness. Little bitterness which doesn’t seem right. Not bad for the style but not very well to me.
