muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jun 17, 2006 Post-Mondial tasting at Goldorak’s pad, from 500 ml bottle(s). Hazy mahogany with a bit of lasting brown head....lots of spice in the nose, almost an overload, with anise and allspice and orange peel all strutting their stuff, to the point where the fine caramel malt seems to be crying out to be noticed....on the tongue a two-part adventure, with thick sweet near-syrupy caramel at the front quickly dissipating as huge fiery spices, ginger and more anise and Mexican chocoalte show up....creamy, soft carbonation and a remarkably long, lingering finish with the spices staying with you as long as seems possible....
fordest (1778), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Oct 8, 2008 My favorite of the night. Lots of dark fruits and some spice on the aromas. Flavors of more spice and caramel flavors. I actually think I got some spearmint in that aroma. Nice beer. stefanje (596), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 500ml bottle shared by fordest(thanks). Pours a translucent copper color with a small white head. The nose is distinct with aromatic herbs, spices and a bit of malted grain. The spices really rule in this brew, nearly all the dubbel character is hidden, cloves and mint leaves dominate the flavor set in a malt backdrop. The mouthfeel is silky with lively carbonation. The finish is long with lingering mint. Overall: It must have taken a lot of experimentation for the brewer to come up with this one, and they pulled it off. A winner. padrefan98 (645), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle shared by fordest at his house. Sweet carmel malt flavor with some spices and fruit. Interesting and very good. Rciesla (891), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle, awesome art btw. Pours an amber brown body with white head. Sweet cinnamon and nutmeg. Belgian spices. Sweet malty with tons of spices. Good beer. JMFG (1173), Florida, USA Sep 15, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Mostly clear copper-brown color, thin even layer of white head. Light molasses, raisin, coriander, dark fruits, alcohol. Well carbonated, nice palate. Simple dark fruity start, alcohol comes out a bit, rich spicy finish.
