UPDATED: APR 2, 2012 [2010 Bottle, nearly 2 years old]: 750mL 2010 bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Was very excited to try this one and it did not disappoint. Pours cloudy and gold with a massive thick creamy head. Citrus hops, spice, and yeast dominate the aroma. Taste is heavenly. Belgian spiciness and sweetness mixed with fruity hops, with a mildly bitter grapefruit finish. Very smooth in the mouth with moderate carbonation, and warming alcohol. Delicious stuff! [2012 bottle from LCBO, a couple months old]: Clear golden with a huge creamy white head. Terrific aroma of sweet malt, citrus fruits, spice, and bubblegum. Taste is wonderful: sweet up front with fruity hops (orange and lemon), and a delicate Belgian bubble-gum goodness. The 70 IBUs give it a great bitter grapefruit finish. A little boozy. Medium-bodied with a nice slick mouthful and good carbonation. Definitely better fresh!

Pour is slightly hazy yellow with white head, pour thanks to Aaron! Aroma has notes of nice fruit with pear and apricot, crackery bread with yeast notes, hints of spice and nice slight floral notes, pretty much a delicious saison. Taste is a nice mix of fruity pear, apricot, dried apricot, green raisin, hints of floral and slight biscuit, finishes fairly sweet but dries out nicely. This is delicious stuff, wish I could have this all the time.

I tried this beer on March 17, 2012 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy medium with a long lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is yeast, citrusy hops, and grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and slightly champagny. The flavour is yeast, and notes of grapefruit. Very well done.

8 oz pour at Beer Revolution. Pours a muddled golden yellow with a bubbly white head. Aroma is of strong soft fruits, mild citrus. Mouthfeel is crisp, medium alcohol warmth. Taste is glorious. Delicately balanced, punch of hop flavour tempered with electrifiying sweetness, masking alcohol notes and leaving you scintillated and wanting more.

Pours a lightly hazy golden color with a big frothy white head and lots of lace up the glass. Aroma of citrus hops, light fruity esthers, peppery phenols, cloves, alcohol and some spicy earthy hops. Taste is grapefruit, pine, spicy saaz hops, light fruits, spicy peppery phenols, Belgian yeast and a nice alcohol warming on the finish. Nice semi dry finish with medium carbonation.

Definitely the most quaffable Belgian strong ale I have had, not overpowering at all. Poured a straw colour with a big frothy head that stuck around. Aroma was of tropical fruit, floral hops, grass. Tasted fruity with honey and floral hops, also had a nice sweetness to it. Had a medium body that was highly carbonated with a tingly feel. Plus it hides its booze levels like a champ. Impressed with this brew.

Poured a hazy apricot color, The head is huge, reminds me of my first Duvel upon first glance. But this is no Duvel. The head last for an eternity, eventually subsiding into a a thin blanket, leaving ample lacing in the glass. The carbonation is fascinating, a myriad of bubbles, seemingly rising to the surface in an unending stream. Possibly, the best looking beer I have ever cast a gaze upon. The aroma is a feast for the senses. A cedar/pine aroma is the first to become evident, with a doughy/yestiness coming into focus. Some black pepper spices along with a touch of alcohol. Glorious. The flavor is as complex as the aroma. The initial attack seems to be a light spiciness, tempered by the hops, which seem to be followed by a sweet bread like note (Challah perhaps?). The hops come back into the picture, lingering for an eternity. The alcohol is apparent on the finish, but is so perfectly balanced. Absolutely amazing.
