Bottle from LCBO, Toronto, marked 2012/05/14 Hazy golden color, with generous creamy head. The aroma is delicate and spicy, with very light fruits. The malt profile is very spicy, blending to perfection a light residual sweetness, yeast spiciness and light fruitiness; the bitterness seems strong, but ; there is also a light alcohol perception. Elegant, harmonious, satisfactory; excellent, true Belgian; a masterpiece of brewing skills.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 8, 2008
Bottle from Gatineau. Hazy light amber golden hazy body with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is candied sugar with floral and peppery notes. Flavour is complex with noticeable dry yeast and sweetness from the candy sugar and herbal and earthy peppery notes. Lighter on the palate but noticeably no alcohol burn which surprised me. Well put together and quite refreshing. I could easily drink an entire bottle.
4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2008
Bottle thanks to Glouglouburp - thanks for the trade Dany! Beautiful dark yellow, lots of streaming bubbles, big thick foamy white head with great lacing all the way down. Strong yeasty aroma, with just a hint of alcohol. Some lemon. Soft hops. Taste - wow, that’s nice. Soft foamy mouthfeel, starts with expected light malt and yeast with some lemon and then bam, lots of hops. Strong spicy hops that balance perfectly with the typical strong Belgian body. This is like Duvel on hop steroids and I love it. Long burning linger, not alcohol, more like the spicy hops. Dry in the finish, yet rather sweet in the initial taste. One complex mo fo.. This is an entirely unique creation - I have tried a few others of these Belgians with an American hoppy twist but nothing like this. Worth every penny, thanks again Dany!

Bottle - 750ml. Pours a hazy golden body with low carbonation and a lasting white frothy head. Well balanced, complex malty/hoppy aroma with yeasty, grainy, fruity, and some spicy hints. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Terrific, sharp hoppy taste that carries coriander, honeyish, flowery and even some subtle woody notes. Leaves a neverending, warming, hoppy/herbal finish. This is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Awesome!
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 beerbiere (101) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 10, 2008
Light maple color, duvel-reminiscent, meringue like head and lots of laces. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, pepper, conifer and green olive pit. Shows great complexity in terms of bitterness (hops), yet not agressive. Not the least cloying, fluid body while being full. Superb lenght. Drinks very easily. Highly recommended!

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2008 In short: An very hoppy very floral strong belgian blonde ale. Original and truly excellent.
How: Very fresh at a tasting session than 750ml bottle by myself two months later.
The look: Partly cloudy dark yellow body with a rather large white head.
In long: Nose is quite something, huge amount of hops, very floral, a bit perfumy and a bit soapy. This well malted and very yeasty Belgian Ale provide an adequate support for the hops avalanche although the malts and yeast esters do not play a big role in the overall flavour spectrum. Some bready notes, crisp honeyed cereals, a little sawdust and very little in the way of fruity esters. But the hopping is the star of this show and is not limited to the finish/bitterness. From start to finish you get flavours of various flowers (dandelions and such) intertwined with pine needles leading to a mild juicy bitterness. Never aggressive the 750ml went down easily despite the 10% abv. The only problem is the current price tag/rarity but even at $17/bottle I don’t think it is a waste of money. It’s never waste money to buy good beer, it’s my life I waste drinking them.

Thanks to Dany for the 2007 bottle! Poured sparkly medium golden with a tall, whipped cream-like cap of whitish head.. plenty of rising carbonation. The aroma picked up a wonderful blend of sweet, toasty darker fruits, orange peel, cat pee, and peppery spices.. sweeter on the back with pale-inspired maltage. The flavor was on the sweet side with candied fruits and toffee at the core.. pepper, dusty funk, and clovey spices join some orange zest, floral notes, and warm alcohol on the edges.. finished zesty with a nice blend of spices and fruity sourness. Dry on the palate with high carbonation and great balance.. expertly-crafted and warm in the belly. This was great!
