[4061-20111030] Cask. Roasty sweet malt aroma has a hint of fresh banana. Black body with a quick bubbly tan head. Roasted banana malt flavour. Medium-full body. Fair, strange banana notes. (7/3/6/4/14) 3.4

500 ml bottle from brewpub. Label said "Imperial Stout à Jack" and they told me it had been aged in Jack Daniels oak casks for 4 months, thus I’m guessing it’s the same as what’s been rated here thus far. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black, with a reddish tinct. Head is dark beige, little retention. Smells of alcohol and oak. Tastes of vanilla, sweet chocolate, alcohol is very present. Nice strong chocolate, cocoa, oak and vanilla finish. Body is average, carbonation was a bit too strong at first, so I had to let it rest for a few minutes to really enjoy it.It did not taste like what I was expecting, but I was positively surprised.

On cask at Cask Days 2011 at Hart House, served in an English pint glass. Pours dark walnut with a small, rocky tan head that remains and leaves a small amount of lace. On the nose, there are aromas of bourbon, roast malts and molasses, along with hints of coffee, licorice and oak. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with a light bitterness emerging towards the end. There are complementary notes of oak and bourbon throughout. The finish is long, with bourbon and herbal hops. On the palate, it is full in body with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a great bourbon barrel imperial stout. The bourbon is perhaps a bit too dominant, hiding some of the other aromas. This one would be nice to see in bottles. 2011-10-30

Cask days 2011. Great looking beer, jet black, mocha head. Super dark roasted malts, light wood, vanilla, and light bourbon. As the beer warms it gets quite boozier. Sweet roasted malt finish, slightly boozy, some lingering espresso. Nice stuff, but a little rough around the edges.

Cask Days 2011, Beautful black pour with dark tan head. Nicely balanced Bourbon Barrell aged beer, Nice roastiness, substantial but not overly dominate bourbon presence. Sweet maltiness. Real Nice

Masterpiece. Very rich and tasty. Dark brown with a cask bubbly head. The aroma is inviting. The taste is malty chocolate, and some of the best notes of bourbon, a kiss of sourness, and some whiskey complexity, with only a bit of wood, The low carbonation, and I had one of the last pints, greatly enhanced drinkability. I do not know the actual cask they used, but seemed to me like they used one and transfered to another to pick up this taste and complexity.

2011-10-30. Black body with a frothy tan head. 3+ Aroma has an alcoholic barrel character, pleasantly so, sweet wood over rich dark malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, woody overtones on sweet dark malt base. Smooth medium to full bodied palate. 3+ Pretty nice. Cask Days 2011, Toronto
