tap at Volo, Toronto. somewhat hazy, yeasty golden orange. notes of vanilla, yeast is not abundant in the nose, some herbal notes. Taste was herbal, light garden weediness, again yeast taking back seat. light vanilla. pretty good

draught@erzbierschof - cloudy dark blond beer under a huge creamy foam left; nice lacework; aroma of fresh cut apples, hay and bretts; a respectable malt backbone, clean and juicy palate, dry and bitter with a long fruity, spicy and slightly almondy hoppy finish and a light lingering sourness - subtle and very drinkable; balanced

Tap at Churchkey. The pour is a cloudy orange with small lace. Nose is honey grain, phenolic, medicinal apple juice. Taste is corny, grainy, soapy, bitter orange. Chalky in palate. Cookie like malt. Sweet orange mint. Headache inducing. What a clash of odd flavors. Not a fan.

Tap at Churchkey. Rich amber colored pour with a decent sized milky head. Nose holds fantastic honey sweetness, a touch of wood, good hop presence, and nice wheat notes. Flavor holds much of the same, with a mouthfeel that isn’t as attenuated as I expect from the style. Quite good, but not great.

Small off-white head, cloudy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, some spicy, light rye, pepper. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, some honey, light spicy. Medium body, low carbonation, some stickiness.

Churchkey, DC 10oz ($9): Pours an orangish body with a white head. Aroma is of multigrain bread (not the fresh kind, but the kind that you would get pre-sliced) and some weird yeast. Taste is butterscotch, multigrain bread and that selfsame weird yeast. Mouthfeel is pretty nice and creamy, definitely not what one would expect from a saison. Interesting and unique beer.

On tap. Pours a hazy golden with a creamy white head leaving laces. Very spicy and citrusy nose. Medium-bodied, very fruity with exotic esters. A distinct yeastiness and a slightly tart edge. Very refreshing. 260811

Chopp. Hazy like colour, small white head, rather short lasting. Aroma is fruity like and citric, bit parfume like. Mouthfeel is rather lively (carbo). Flavour is fresh and citric fruity with a pleasant bitterness. Sweet finish, fruity citric, bit dry.

Draft. An unclear golden beer with a thin lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of pepper, lemons, and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemons, yeast, pepper, alcohol, lemongrass, and a bit of malt, leading to a dry spicy finish. The body is watery.

Draught. Medium high fluffy white head. Hazy orange body. Fruity aroma of among others banana and oranges. Powerful fruity flavor with a fair amount of hops bitterness., Low carbonation. Long aftertaste. Very well balanced. Alcohol well hidden.
