Bottle, Mondiale 09. Dark orange/brown, small white head. Nice orange peel aroma, spicy. Taste is more strong orange peel, lots of malt, quite spicy and refreshing. A very nice saison/belgian.

(Rating #2459)

Bottle, Mondial 2009. Amber with a nice fizzy and creamy head. Aroma is yeast and some hops. Taste is quite sweet (brown sugar). Bitterness is faint but present all along and on the finish. Quite sweet and fruity.

My Bottom Line:
This eclectic Belgian-style Ale’s spicy perfume works wonders with the lean toasted caramel malts and the piney allusions brought forth by the cohesion of hop resins and champagne yeast.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear copper.
-The word "Saison" here does not allude to the known style, but rather to the fact that this is their seasonal brew.
-The body is velvety smooth and the flavor profile is super clean (as in all Charlevoix beers).
-This might be quirky because there is nothing like it, but it very drinkable and complex. Hard not to like it, actually.

On tap at the Mondial de la Bière and from the lagering tank at the brewery.

Tap at Brouhaha 1st anniversary party. Pours a deep copper amber with a frothy moslty white head. Aroma is yeasty, phenolic slight wine like, tannic, grapey, ligth dark caramel notes, and fruity esters- some apple. Flavor is slight malts, slight hops- phenolic yeast, wine-like, grape skin, and fruity esters gets slight solvent and fusel. Dry finish though, but a bit slick and astringent.
