Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, - DEC 29, 2010
A lightly hazed golden ale woth a thick lacing white head. In aroma, very belgian, with yeastsm smooth herbaceous hops, bready qualities, light berry notes, not an IPA as expected. In mouth, a smooth Belgian triple with some nice hoppiness, a bit of mint, good, but not what I expected. On tap at l’Autre Oeil Nov. 2010, with Sammy, Radek and Probstk.

Eructoblaster (2122) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 18, 2010
On tap at L’Autre oeil (Gatineau, Qc). Hazy blond body with an average, lasting white creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with citrusy and coriander hints. Sharp hoppy taste with malty, grassy, and some subtle yeasty notes. Alcohol is well hidden. Ends with a robust, long bitter finish. Very well done!

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2010 On tap at Bistro l’autre oeil. Clear yellow with a thick white head with great retention and lacing. Aroma is very citrusy with grapefruit, orange and peach. Flavor is citrus, with again, grapefruit, bloody orange, peach, alcohol and honey with malt. Moderately bitter finish. Dangerously drinkable! Again, another great beer from Charlevoix!

Pours gold into a shaker. Bright white head with excellent retention leaves spot lacing as is slowly recedes. Yeast and resin aromas. Sweet citrus and dry upfront turning to a lasting yeast and hot hop finish.

In short: A boozy and sweet Belgian strong blonde ale with a lot of grassy hops. Simple but pleasant sipper.
How: Tap at Bouhaha (Montreal) + Tap at Loup Rouge (Sorel)
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a medium white head
In long: Big nose with lots of grassy hops, alcohol fumes, and bakery sweetness. Taste is not very subtle, this is an in-your-face beer. Very sweet with lots of honeyed pale malts. Bee wax sensation. A lot of grassy hops that dry-out the beer a bit with a dry yellow grass bitterness/dryness. A tiny bit of banana. Alcohol very much present. I like a hoppy strong Belgian blonde ale but this one was a bit too boozy, sweet and simple to rank it higher than “just a good beer”. I was told that this is a test-batch that Charlevoix did to test their new equipment for a future beer. If this beer was indeed just a test then I think there are some local breweries that are running illegal cover-up experiments on me.
