3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Written review from March 2010 which I forgot to upload. I really enjoyed this beer. Amarillo and Cascade are my two favourite hop varieties, so this beer was a favourite of mine. Frothy white pour with a bright golden orange body. The aroma is mildly sweet hops with a hint of high alcohol but pretty mild overall. The taste however is home to a multitude of subtle nuances. Firstly, the hops impart a pretty intense bitterness (guessing 65 IBUS) with a bit of spicy yeastiness and tons of floral notes. Very enjoyable beer which I will try over and over again.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500mL bottle sent from Glouglouburp, pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head. Very fruity nose with peach, orange, mango and citrus, with hops of course. Flavour is what you’d expect - a mix of the above-mentioned fruits, quite a sweet caramel character and citrusy hops. Slightly spicy finish. Great IIPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, shared with Parksy. The third in a IIPA taste-off. Hazy/cloudy golden colour, fluffy white head with excellent retention. Sweet toffee, light conifer, light spice aroma. Flavour profile is sweet, as I’ve experienced with all of Charlevoix’s brews in this excellent series, with sticky toffee malts and orange spice-kissed hops. Not big on bitterness, but certainly big on flavour.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, thank you Colin and Kendra! Pretty foamy pour, big frothy white head over a dark yellow body. Aroma is fairly mild, but there is a good dose of alcohol and spicy hops in there. Taste is solid - great up front bitterness, lots of malt to follow it up, although it never feels heavy or malt first, and a nice citrusy sweet hop linger finish. Juicy! A really solid double IPA, exactly what I would expect from these guys. Thanks for the bottle again C & K, a very nice treat!

Big aroma of citrus, some delightful malt as well, amber, pours a small custard head. Flavour bursts with orange/pine, lovely malt backing. Medium bodied, very nicely balanced, great bitterness. Terrific!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Boutip - thanks, Phil! Second beer from this brewery, and it’s another winner. Even with a few months on it, this IPA is fresh and delicious. Bright luminous orange pour, with a frothy two-finger head. Wonderfully aromatic nose, sweet and floral in a reminder of why this hops is so delish. Mild bready notes in there testify to some fading but, given how pungent the nose and how sticky and lingeringly bitter the taste is, I can only imagine how tasty it would be fresh. So, slightly too sweet in moments and a bit more bready than is ideal, but overall a really fine DIPA.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a clear deep gold with an average size fizzy white head. Wow, this smells lovely! Lots of resiny hops, slightly sweet, citrusy and lightly spicy. Flavour is hoppy, fruity and lightly spicy with a decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff, I quite enjoyed it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2015 re-rate, re-brewed in 2015. pours dark orange with an off-white head offering minimal retention/lacing. lots of malts, omnipresent caramel maltiness, lots of spruce and green amarillo - medium to heavy hopping - very floral as well, pepper, clean yeast. old-school double ipa - revising original recipe would be a good thing. still better than ella, aramis, and other recent crappy hops.
