Bottle @ Volo Launch Party. Big aroma of citrus, some delightful malt as well, amber, pours a small custard head. Flavour bursts with orange/pine, lovely malt backing. Medium bodied, very nicely balanced, great bitterness. Terrific!

(Rating #3112)

Bottle from Boutip - thanks, Phil! Second beer from this brewery, and it’s another winner. Even with a few months on it, this IPA is fresh and delicious. Bright luminous orange pour, with a frothy two-finger head. Wonderfully aromatic nose, sweet and floral in a reminder of why this hops is so delish. Mild bready notes in there testify to some fading but, given how pungent the nose and how sticky and lingeringly bitter the taste is, I can only imagine how tasty it would be fresh. So, slightly too sweet in moments and a bit more bready than is ideal, but overall a really fine DIPA.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a clear deep gold with an average size fizzy white head. Wow, this smells lovely! Lots of resiny hops, slightly sweet, citrusy and lightly spicy. Flavour is hoppy, fruity and lightly spicy with a decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff, I quite enjoyed it.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2015 re-rate, re-brewed in 2015. pours dark orange with an off-white head offering minimal retention/lacing. lots of malts, omnipresent caramel maltiness, lots of spruce and green amarillo - medium to heavy hopping - very floral as well, pepper, clean yeast. old-school double ipa - revising original recipe would be a good thing. still better than ella, aramis, and other recent crappy hops.

Pours a hazy copper with a sustained white head. Smells of perfume, citrus, strong floral notes. Tastes of citrus, some honey, resiny touches, some sweet honeydew notes on the finish.

Orange colour, solid looking, with some off white head. Orange resiny hop aromas. A tad astringent though the flavour overshadows this and allows for decent drinkability. More like a 1.5X IPA, not your normal mix of hops and malt, bulking up mouthfeel. Perhaps the recipe calls for this based on the hop.

500 ml bottle; thanks Tom!! Side by side with the Simcoe version; lear orange with creamy white head and lots of steady carbonation; light grassy aromas of cat pee and stale hops; thin body with mild fruity notes and a lemony sweetness; a little creamy on the palate with fruity hops and a nice finish with fruity bitterness; pretty nice overall and must be nice to drink fresh on draft

Courtesy of after4ever. Thanks Tom. Pours clear copper with loose white head. The aroma is mild with sweet citrus candy and some modest spiciness. The taste is similar with pretty thick mildly aged malts blending into a pleasing citrus hop flavor of orange juice mixed with grapefruit juice and a touch of pine and spicy hop bitterness. Tasty stuff.
