3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear golden hue topped with a prominent, frothy white head. Aroma is resinous and leafy with a touch of biscuit. Pronounced hop bitterness up front in the flavor mingles with spruce and grapefruit tones, supported by caramelized malts. Finishes dry and bitter with a slight alcoholic bite. Lively feel on the palate, quite smooth and drinkable

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Lighter amber pour, 1 finger of head, good lacing. Malty, fruity aroma, tropical fruit. Earthier taste, not terribly bitter or hoppy. More malt-forward, coconut. Slightly boozy. Well carbonated, but a bit of an odd one to drink. Maybe just not the hop I would choose to highlight.

Fresh bottle from Montreal, thanks John. Very piney aroma. Coconut, good bittereness, just not all that drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled almost 3 months ago... I’ll assume it’s still fresh... Gotta say it’s nice to see a brewed on date though. Probably the best ever TNG is on: Best of Both Worlds - Picard has been turned into a Borg. Guilty pleasure. This was great until stupid Whoopie showed up. Poured out a bright amber brew with a big fluffy white cap with good lacing. This is the second unique IPA ive had in the last couple of days. The aroma has very slight citrus with a off scent - on the outside this smells pretty good. If I go deep there is something strange here: bananas and yeast which is totally bizarre. Some sweet Indian candy, this ain’t bad but I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of it’s Belgian side - kinda cool though. Neat spices and something I’m going to guess reminds me the smell I’d find crawling through Sears clothes racks back in the day. This aroma is very hard to place and I’m pretty much grasping at straws but it’s just a bit weird. The flavour has an interesting spice with decent bite, odd tart bite with a hint of that belgian yeasty taste or something similar... it’s not really peppery or banana but similar in a way that’s not totally clear. I’m also not saying that these are big, dominating, straight forward flavours. Light caramel, hard spice and a bigger bitterness than I originally thought. Interesting - yes. Commanding a second purchase: hardly. Interesting variety that should be combined with something else to take away it’s own powerful characteristics. Don’t take it to heart, chump. This was a totally unique brew. Good showcase but I didn’t like that much.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500 mL bottle; bottled on 11/29/2011. Pours clear amber with a thick white head possessing good retention. Leaves a beautiful lace pattern on the glass. On the nose we have pear, orange, lemon, pineapple, pine resin, banana esters, and yeast. Taste is sweet biscuit malt and orange peel, followed by herbal hops, and a blast of fruit: lemon, peach, and banana. Sours as it develops. Mouthfeel is medium-thin and oily with medium to high carbonation. Finish is substantially bitter leaving sticky-sweet citrus. Not particularly aggressive at first but the fruit-bomb is nice, and there is a substantial bitterness in the finish. I liked this one much more than the Columbus edition.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. There have been so many of these that I cannot remember which I have had when I see them in the store but this time it is a new one. Dark amber or light copper. Lots of carbonation. Head is moderate but long lasting. Hop aroma seems a bit funky and herbal but may be poorly filtered past my head cold. The malt might be lighter in this one than the previous single hop Vache Folle. Hops and alcohol seem to dance above the caramel malt until the aftertaste when it becomes a threesome. A glass of this seem as solid as a light lunch. A bit of a herbal edge to the hops as well.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bouteille 500ml.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy orange with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, alcohol and some hops. Flavour of hops, honey, alcohol, caramel malt and big bitter finish. Average bodied. Probably my least favourite Vache Folle, I didn’t much care for it.
