Spicy fruity hop aroma. A bit of light hop flavour. Citrus/ tangerine and some soft fruit. Lightly malty with some peppery ethanol. Decent stuff although a bit sweet for my tastes.

Fresh bottle from Montreal, thanks John. Very piney aroma. Coconut, good bittereness, just not all that drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line :
Floral hop notes get smothered in honeyed malts in this slick and resolutely bitter Double IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A lofty foam bulb decorates the misty pale amber, lacing well throughout the pint.
-The nose is quite weak for a Double IPA.
-The resinous hop bitterness is compact.
-There isn’t much complexity to speak of, but it’s still a well-executed strong ale.
-If these Vache Folles dropped the ’Double IPA’ moniker, I’d probably enjoy them more.

500ml bottle from Marchée Omni, shared with blankboy and garthicus. Slightly hazy orange, large frothy diminishing off-white head. Aroma - ehh - sweet light peach and pineapple malt, dry and leafy, noticeable alcohol - barely a 7. Taste follows, sort of a strong hybrid resin/English IPA - quite malty, that hop has a nice bit to it. Good body and carbonation, almost barley wine level malt mouthfeel, with a medium-length bitter finish. Decent, not the best of this series for me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A golden IPA with a bright flavor profile. Surprisingly refreshing.
How: Bottle 500ml, consumed very fresh one week after the beer release
The look: Clear shinning golden body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose has a pleasant sharp grassy, lemony and citrusy hops signature. The aroma is a bit brighter than what I got used from the other Vache Folle Double IPAs. Taste has plenty of crisp sweet cereals with a sweetness that is a lot more honey than it is caramel. Moderately fruity with pineapples, usual citrusy fruits and even some bananas. There is a fresh green grassy character to this hops that is reminiscent of a fresh hop IPA. Alcohol very well hidden. The big malted body doesn’t feel heavy with the active medium carbonation. This is overall sharp and really refreshing IIPA that is very easy to drink. A decent beer, and yet another rating of a Charlevoix beer for me. I love sitting with a beer in front of my computer and rating beers, but if there is one thing I’ve learned from spending so much time in the virtual world that is ratebeer is that eventually I have to go back out into the real world and deal with real people… to get more beers to rate on ratebeer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, shared with Jeff. Bright medium orange with a medium gold-tinted head. Aroma is very sweet, bready candy malts and overripe fruits. Flavour is sweet too, with distinct strawberry syrup flavour, barley candy, tinned pineapple. Sticky palate with a moderately bitter finish. I feel the same about this as I do nearly all of the beers in this series: sweet, malty, and tame for the style, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy orange with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, alcohol and some hops. Flavour of hops, honey, alcohol, caramel malt and big bitter finish. Average bodied. Probably my least favourite Vache Folle, I didn’t much care for it.

(Rating #4098)

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
500mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma is quite sweet, with herbal and floral hops, sweet candied caramel malts, pineapple and some other tropical fruits. Flavour of candied sugar, banana (?!), pineapple, and some citrusy fruits - sweet malty backbone without the beer feeling very heavy. Cloyingly sweet, with a nasty medicinal, cough syrupy finish - doesn’t drink very easily, nor do the flavours seem to be in harmony. Weird and somewhat offensive IIPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. There have been so many of these that I cannot remember which I have had when I see them in the store but this time it is a new one. Dark amber or light copper. Lots of carbonation. Head is moderate but long lasting. Hop aroma seems a bit funky and herbal but may be poorly filtered past my head cold. The malt might be lighter in this one than the previous single hop Vache Folle. Hops and alcohol seem to dance above the caramel malt until the aftertaste when it becomes a threesome. A glass of this seem as solid as a light lunch. A bit of a herbal edge to the hops as well.
