Clear amber color and almost no head. Strong hoppy and malty aromas. Heavy bitterness and medium sweetness. Strong presence of alcohol but refreshing.

Bouteille 500ml. Couleur cuivrée foncée translucide, mousse beige laissant une dentelle fugace. Arôme de malt caramel, houblon résineux, poussiéreux. Goût d’alcool, malt caramel, sucré, amertume moyenne. Carbonatation faible, corps moyen.

A rich copper body topped by a big fluffy white head with good retention. The nose includes dank fruity hops, fresh cut hay and sweet malts. Haven’t kept up with this series as they have lost their high-impact taste profile over the years and months, but this is a good beer. Caramel malt and citrus and tropical hops with some astringency and resin dominate the taste. Touches of pepper and honey and a dense rich body add to the taste experience. The medium plus carbonation keeps the sweetness and richness in line. Enjoyable, but I always expect more at 9% abv.

Bottle (500 ml) at home. Clear copper with a medium off-white head, ok retention, leaving little lacing. Aroma is interesting and less malt and boozy than their other DIPA from that series, there’s nice citrus, some caramel, honeyed notes and mild peppery presence. Taste is moderately sweet with lots of citrus, honeyed notes, caramel, a bit of alcohol, peppery notes and moderate bitterness. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Quite oily mouthfeel. Citrusy finish with some alcohol warmth. One of the good beer from this series but still a bit too high in alcohol and not aromatic enough. Old style, but well executed.

Évaluation no. 36 Octobre 2010. Aucun nez.

Clear copper with a good frothy white head. Malt, fruity beer with a honey aroma. Caramel flavour. Slightly hoppy. Syrup like texture. Seems more like a strong ale than an ipa.

November 24, 2011 - with blankboy, jerc and mabel. 500ml bottle c/o J&K. Slighty hazy bubbly amber-gold with a decent lasting frothy-creamy beige head. Decent aroma - a little sweet - mild resin, citrus zest, a little faded (7-). Taste is good and juicy, again citrus zest, some tropical fruit character, floral and a hint of resin - on the sweet side, only moderate alcohol, quite nicely balanced, reminded me a bit of what DdC Corne du Diable tasted like at first. Average body, solid carbonation, starts sweet and a little sticky, medium length finish, floral and dry - nice stuff, not great, but solid.

Pale golden pour with a thick white head. The nose is a little bit fruity and sweet. A little bit of honeyed malt along with a touch of light sweet pine and berry character. Some chewy honey sweetness and a little bit of peppery bitterness. It’s fading into something like an old ale - the bitterness is still there but there is a malt dominated profile. Kind of reminds me of Fullers Vintage Ale with a bit of age on it. I bet this would age well.

500 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits (Halifax). Pours a lightly cloudy deep golden orange with moderate-sized cream-coloured head. Aroma is citrus and pine with rich, sweet caramel/fruity malt. Flavour is caramel, tropical & dark fruits and piney/citrusy hoppiness. Fairly full body. Good.
