Deep black beer with a good head. Clear aromas of torrecfaction and sugar. One of the greatest Quebec beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 McBootie (10) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2011
This stout is a bit high in alc for me, and feels like it too. But its just so chocolatey and coffee I’m hooked. Near black pour that was smooth from the bottle. The aroma is rich with dark chocolate, espresso and caramel. Same flavors too with some alc strength.. Probably would be better in a year or so of ageing.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Crel (33) - Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA - FEB 10, 2010
Has a nice sweet aroma with obvious fruit notes, and the distinct smell of alcohol. Very dark with a long lasting head that is light to medium brown in color. It has a wonderfully sweet flavor with caramel, butterscotch, licorice, and chocolate flavors. Nice big body, feels the way a stout should. In my opinion one of the best stouts out there.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2010 Pours a beautiful black colour with a big frothy mocca head. Aroma is a little sweet and filled with roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. The taste is somewhat sweet, malty with a nice light bitterness present throughout. Full-bodied, soft carbonation, fairly thick on the palate. Overall this is one of my favourite beers, just excellent.

Nice lactose-added IS. Medium bitterness, taste of burnt cereals, little alcohol feel. Good drinkability.

The pour: a nice warm black with a persistent and rich reddish-cream head. The aroma: strong notes of burnt caramel, followed by roasty malts, molasses, and dark chocolate with hints of coffee. The taste: Bold yet easy drinking, best enjoyed slowly with a sweet start and pleasantly lingering bitterness to finish. The verdict: a true indulgence and pleasure to drink.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 SFLpunk (134) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUN 15, 2009
500mL brown glass pry-top. No date. Bought at Super Marché Rahman in Montreal.
Appearance: Poured into an Imperial pint. 1 inch frothy tan head atop a solidly opaque black body.
Nose: Café au lait, fresh cream, whisper of white smoke, coffee syrup, dark leaf tobacco. Smells like medium roast coffee with cream.
Palate: Bright and crisp with some light hops and some acid, which quickly switches to being creamy. Coffee and mocha flavors dominate, and there’s some oxidized notes here too. Not sure if that’s on purpose. The finish is long and rich and creamy, all mocha.
Notes: A seriously tasty brew for the coffee and/or mocha enthusiast. Would love to see this on nitro. Wish they dated the bottles, dammit! What’s with brewers these days??

Chocolat avec une touche de cafe, plutot douce. Jamais on ne detecte le haut taux d alcool. Tres fruiter, l ester de banane se discerne le plus. Complexe et delicieuse!
Chocolaty with coffee notes, sweet. Never noticed the 9% abv. Lots of fruitiness, with banana ester in proeminance. Very complex and very good!
