3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4781) - Montreal, - AUG 24, 2011
In short: A nice biscuity and semi-dry grassy/fruity IIPA that that drinks like an 6% IPA
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed fresh 1.5 month after the beer release
The look: Clear golden body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: The moderately intense hoppy nose is citrusy and grassy. Taste has a nice grainy toasted biscuity malt backbone very much reminiscent of Goglu™ cookies. In mouth the hopping is first grassy (yellowed grass) with notes of grapefruits and fruit skin. The bitterness level is medium and the finish is nicely dry making this beer all the more drinkable. Very nice mouthfeel. Unlike most Vache Folle Double IPA this beer is not crushed by the overly sweet caramelized malts. It is not a hop bomb either. This is a Double IPA that drinks like an IPA, I liked it a lot. A nice addition to the lineup of Vache Folle (old french name for PMS). Earlier Rating: 3/25/2009 Total Score: 3.6 In short: An alcoholised IIPA with a distinctive herbal spices hops signature.
How: Tap at Vices & Versa (Montreal)
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a medium beige head.
In long: That new hop breed is very herbal and spicy. Flavour of thick caramel, iced-tea, lots of herbal and resinous spicy hops. Very bitter. A little too much alcohol presence prevents it from reaching greatness level. The hops natural spiciness helps hiding some of the alcohol. As the beer warmed up it developed a pleasant crème caramel flavour. This is a kick-ass IPA with its own personality. Yeoman is a type of hops wasn’t familiar with and I like it a lot. I would have preferred a less alcoholised brew to better showcase the Yeoman hops but it is nonetheless a great brew to be introduced to Yeoman. Hey Yeoman whazzup?

Bottle recently from Rahman’s. Decent IPA plus in bitterness. Good drinkable but nothing exceptional to taste, or in aroma or appearance. Unexceptional overall.

[4145-20111124] 500mL bottle. Mild citrus resin and toasted lemons aroma. Slightly hazy, orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet toasted citrus oil flavour is fairly bitter. Medium-full body. Good bitter but all mid-tones. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Damico (1399) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 15, 2012
Pours clearer golden orange with a white head. The aroma has almost disappeared, light sweet hop notes are barely there. The flavors bring some light bitter and sweet hops that don’t bite at all. There is a syrupy malt base, not like a barleywine but much lighter. The body fares well, just right on the carbonation
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4437) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2012
Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Nov. 2011. Pours a hazy golden-orange with a small lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of resiny and grassy hops, kind of sweet. Flavour is sweet and resiny with a long bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

Bottle. Deep golden with a dense cream coloured crown that staysfor at least half the glass. Aroma is sweet, like golden syrup, with some floral grassy notes. Like all of the IIPAs in this series, the palate is sticky and sweet, with flavours of golden syrup accented by a floral-grassy-herbal hoppiness that comes across as soft and half-assed. maybe some citrus in here too. Definiately not my favourite in this series. I’m not sure if it’s the hop varietal itself or whether this was simply underhopped.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2169) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
500 ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a bit of orange when held to the light and has a small white head that leaves some really nice lacing on the glass. Has a very mild aroma of floral hops. Taste is much better with a bold malty sweetness balanced nicely with a modest hoppy bitterness which is quite pleasant. Medium body and some decent carbonation. My first encounter with the Yeoman hop and it was not disappointing.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Reynolds314 (760) - Connecticut, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Best thing about this beer was the cow on the label. Hops were missing or maybe the rare "yeoman" hop just tastes like stale bread and grass clippings, which if it does then this was spot on. Not good really in much of any way. I poured half of it out. Not worth drinking when I have so many other good beers.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kevinsenn (329) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 3, 2011
500mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a nice orange colour, but hazy. Mild, but pleasant, aroma. Taste is... weird. Sweet malt up front followed by a herbal sort of bitterness, like arugula. Interesting, but not something I’d get again.
