Growler filled at the brewery and consumed several days later. Pours a mostly clear deep brown with scarlet edges when held against a light with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant malty aroma with just a hint of smoke. The flavor is very nice with ample malt, slightly sweet, with again just a hint of smokiness. This is not a wee heavy, but has much of the richness you would find in a higher gravity ale. Medium bodied and fairly smooth on the palate. Excellent beer!

Purple brown with no head to speak of. Dark and murky. Looks like sludge to be honest but it works. Very smoky fire-pit aroma. Sweet malts but with an extinguished match: Rauchbier-ish. Tastes of caramel and toffee cooked in a smoker. Sweet but with a beautiful smoked balance. Really smooth and oily. A nicely balanced and smoky Scotch ale. Small growler fill from the fine folks at Chatham. Pours a light murky ruby brown with a thin beige head. Light corn, caramel, and malt. A bit thin, malty. Dry bitterness throughout. Tastes like the standard brewpub scotch ale. Drinkable, but not memorable. Meh.
