Purplish brownish red, with a big tan head. OK, I’m gonna up front here - typically, mediocore fruit beers at least smell fantastic, even if the flavor is not up to par. But this one had a medcinal, cough syrupy feel to the aroma, which was worse in the flavor. I like Rogue, and I’ve enjoyed the Chatoe series, but this is a bit of a mis-fire.

Bottle, poured a murkey brown color, medium head. Aroma is dark fruit, cherries, raisin, belgium yeast, apple. Medium sweetness, light sour. Medium body, ave carbonation. The fruits show up in this one. Sour throughout which is expected. Not bad.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2012 Pours reddish amber with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Not much smell a bit sour with a hint of cherries. Taste is mostly tart with slight malt and finishes the same.

22oz bottle poured into my fancy Sam Adams glass. Pours a murky ruby/nut brown with minimal head. Aroma of tart cherry and some bread and caramel. Taste is about the same. Tart cherry with some bready malt and....Brett? I swear I taste some Brett in there. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, I’m glad I found it on the discount rack for a little over a buck. I’ll drink it now but won’t be seeking it out again.

It’s murky dark brown with few bubbles. Cherry and some dank barnyard aromas. The flavor is gently tart up front, mixing fairly well with hoppy twang, dries on the finish with just a touch of cocoa powder bitterness. I would say it’s on the light side of medium bodied. It’s not like a heavy Belgian kriek, and less sour, but it’s still good. I was hoping for a bit more effervescence, perhaps mine was a bit old.

Bottle
Appearance - Cloudy brown, thin head
Aromas - Brown sugar, cherries, raisins
Taste - Tart, cherries, light malts

This is not what I expected from Rogue - not to say that this is bad. All in all this brew is very light, the tart from the cherries is light and pleasant. Slightly malty and getting dry towards the end, it’s still a brew that will make you go "hmmm" sip after sip. Interesting...

Heavily clouded brown/red color with zero head but some bubble residue on top. Nose has light cherry, some mild roasted notes, grape and some light caramel malt sweetness late. Flavor starts with an apple cherry combo and moves into a light toasted malt presence with some sweet apricot and grape notes late. Body is modest but the carbonation was a bit flat. A light tartness finishes the mouthfeel at the tail end of the tasting. Overall an okay beer. The cherries didn’t dominate and complemented the smooth malty toasted presence. Only complaint is the carbonation was on the low side from the bottle. Would of made it feel a lot better to have some more carbonation to this beer.

Draught @ The Pit. Hazy light copper with two fingers of creamy sandstone tan head. Nose is lightly spicy with some aromatic grain and cherry skin. Flavor is god awful. Thin with an off yeast character and rotten cherry. Not going into much more detail here. Bleh.

[Bottle] Pours a dark shade of brown with a quickly receding tan head. Nose is of debittered black malts, cherry, dark fruit and sweet toffee notes. Taste is of muddled dark malts and fruity notes. Plums, cherries, sour notes, green apple, plastic off flavors and hints of cocoa powder in the flavor. Average carbonation and palate. A fruity brown ale that really is rather boring.
