Aroma: Roasted malt with coffee and hazelnut

Overall: One of the more memorable and unique Schwatzbiers

Bottle, pours black with a medium dark brown head, fades quickly to a light film. Aroma is big roast and cocoa. Flavor is much the same, big roast, black strap molasses and burnt sugars. Semi sweet cocoa finishes with a little smoke. Really nice stuff with just the right amount of carbonation.

Black with good, foamy, brown head / Rich, toasty nose of roast barley, tobacco, coffee, / Light to medium body, soft carbonation, a touch thin but good balance and bitter finish / Flavors of burnt coffee, toffee, malt, smoke, biscuit, prune / Could use a little more zip to the body, but still a fine brew.

27th August 2012 Opaque dark brown - black beer. Small dark tan head. Palate is light and dry. Dry dark malt, little cream. However the malt is over roasted making for an unpleasant burned flavour. Finishes tangy and dry.
